Luca Merlini Cantatore (born: November 14, 1985), better known online as Doc Tops, is an Ecuadorian-Italian YouTuber dedicated to terror and curiosities, organized his videos through "tops".
History[]
It began on January 18, 2014, beginning with videos of scientific themes through a channel called "Dr. Luca Merlini" . On December 29 of the same year, he launched his tops channel called "Doc Tops" in 2015. In 2016 he began receiving copyright claims and from that moment began investigations by YouTubers to confirm if he stole the content and In addition, he did not ask permission to re-cover some parts of them.
He was inactive since December 8, 2016 and nothing was known about him until February 2, 2018, in which he wrote a message on his Facebook page, Twitter and (where most of his subscribers knew of the return) on your YouTube channel in the community tab.[1][2] However, this turned out to be false, since in his wait he never returned. But on January 31, 2019, he posted another post on Facebook where he said he was not on YouTube because of the constant problems the platform had and that he would upload a video explaining everything that happened during his time of absence.[3]
On February 5, 2019, he uploaded a video explaining the problems he had with YouTube and his possible return.[4] Curiously, he obtained more than 170,000 likes just one hour after its premiere. Currently, this video has more than one million likes, just two days after uploading. He also increased dramatically from subs a day after his new video after a long time. Anonymity and personal life[]
Although his real name is Luca Merlini Cantatore, Doc Tops uploads his videos without showing his face. Nor does it manage personal social networks, except for the Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts of Doc Tops.
Not much is known about his personal life, only that he was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, is a doctor, and lives in Italy. It is also known that he has a brother and nephews.
