Hey, this is DougDoug, where we solve problems that no one has.

―DougDoug's old intro

Douglas Scott "Doug" Wreden[2] (born: January 18, 1991 (1991-01-18) [age 34]),[3] better known online as DougDoug, is an American YouTuber and Twitch streamer from Sacramento, California.[1] He makes comedic gaming videos that mainly revolve around him doing various unorthodox gaming challenges, as well as videos where he explains various gaming-related topics with food as analogies.

History[]

Doug created his channel in March 2008 under the username Gloudas, but didn't start uploading videos until September 2015.[4] His original videos were usually related to the online video game Hearthstone, but in September 2018, he changed his channel name to DougDoug and changed his content alongside it.[5]

Doug has since made content where he attempts to complete simple tasks in video games, such as completing a level in Super Mario Bros. or driving from one destination to another in GTA V, but in unconventional and challenging ways, such as using voice commands only to control his character or while wearing a blindfold. He also does challenges where he allows his 'Twitch Chat' (his viewers on Twitch) to play games by typing in commands and actions in the hopes of beating the game or level.

He's also gained popularity because of his '...but explained with food' series where he explains gaming-related topics but with food as elaborate analogies, although this series has stopped.[6] He also has a second channel called DougDougDoug, which consists of Twitch challenges that were not considered good enough for the main channel as well as other comedic videos and updates.[7] He would then create a new government, Fartocracy.[8]

Quotes/Catchphrases[]

Inside Jokes/Twitch chat shenanigans[]

Rigged[]

Doug's chat often spams "RIGGED" when they lose while playing a game or lose a prediction. It originated from Doug once playing the PopCap game Peggle and screaming "rigged" when he continually lost.[citation needed]

Planned[]

The opposite is true for 'Planned'.[citation needed]

GOTTEM[]

Gottem is a joke where Doug or any character get deliberately roasted, tricked, or trolled.[citation needed]

Divorced Twitch Chatters[]

In Doug's video "Can you survive in GTA 5 if all cars are invisible?" Twitch user 'wavescape07' donated $3 to Doug with a message saying "My wife left me and I'm in a deep depression but I'm donating the only money she let me keep hahahahahahahahaha", Doug replied to this by saying "If anybody else has ex wives where they wanna funnel money through me instead... I'm here for you."

Many other donations came in jokingly stating that their wives divorced them.

Olive Oil[]

In "The Skyrim Speedrun where you literally just get married", Doug states that he is on Keto and has 'between three and four shots of olive oil, just straight olive oil' because he does not want to spend time cooking.[10]

In a stream, he reveals that he actually hates olive oil and just drinks it for the Keto diet.[11]

Diablo the Cheater[]

In 'I let an AI rewrite my LinkedIn profile (and forced spammers to read it)' Doug had an AI rewrite his job as a self-employed YouTuber and the AI spit out this:

"...I'm a god. I call myself Diablo the Cheater. As far as I know, I'm the only person who writes a list of cheating cheats and uses it in-game. My mod turned the game [Skyrim] into an interdimensional sex simulator (powered by a f*cking necromancer), and I use that game on a daily basis. To date, I've cheated in thirty games. Twenty-one of them were developed by other users, and the other two were made by me...".

Doug's Twitch Chat then began to quote this.

Bunny Suit[]

In "If I can't beat 10 Expert levels, Twitch Chat takes control." Doug mentions he had lost his Peggle world record, the record holder at the time said "Doug if by any chance you watch this... I want to see you in a bunny suit" Donations started flowing in about Doug wearing a bunny suit. After Twitch Chat raised $100,000 for Rosa's Birthday, Doug promised he would wear a bunny suit, which he does in this stream.

I'm the captain now.[]

In 'I let an AI rewrite my LinkedIn profile (and forced spammers to read it)' Doug had an AI rewrite his job as a Software Engineer Intern at Zynga and the AI spit out this:

"Look at me. Look at me. I am the captain now. I am the captain of the Washington Capitals. I am the captain of the Washington Capitals. I am the captain. Are you watching? Are you watching? Are you watching? Did you see what I did there? You like what I did there? Can we stay here all night? You don’t even know. Did you know about the new captain in town? Yeah, didn’t know. Everybody was in the dark. I can’t be the captain. I’m not really good at it. Do you see that sign over the locker room door? It says, “Captain Ovechkin.” I didn’t even know that existed. Who do they think they are? What is that sign even about? Captain Ovechkin? Is that their term for me? It is my term for me. I’ve been the captain for years now, but this is my time. I’m so excited."

Doug quotes this when Diablo the Cheater comes up.

WHAT'S GOING ON???[]

In "The Skyrim Speedrun where you literally just get married" Doug mocked some Twitch chatters for saying "WHAT'S GOING ON" in chat, stating that he thinks he makes it pretty obvious.[12] People then started to say that to annoy Doug, making it almost impossible to tell if someone is joking or not when they ask what's happening now.

Fat Albert[]

Fat Albert is a recent inside joke in the community. In 'How Twitch Chat became the world’s fastest Youtube Speedrunner' Doug made a challenge where his chat must find a video associated with the word within 10 rounds. in the first round, Twitch Chat saw a movie of Fat Albert in the YouTube homepage, where 19% of Doug's chat clicked on Fat Albert, later more and more. In I let Twitch Chat decorate my new room. Twitch user 'griff_cymru' mentioned that Doug should buy a Fat Albert DVD, later chat donated and begged Doug to buy Fat Albert posters to cover the wall.

Twitch chat crashes the oxygen stock[]

In "I randomized Zelda, then hosted the most chaotic race ever" Doug decided to do oxygen standard base for his currency. then Doug made a channel point reward for that, then Doug's Twitch Chat went crazy and convert their channel point to oxygen. Doug later reopened the channel point reward and Twitch Chat went crazy and converted their channel points to oxygen, Doug comedically showed that the oxygen stock is crashing and stated that it's Twitch Chats fault for crashing the oxygen stock.

Barnfinders[]

Barnfinders is a more niche part of Doug's memes. Barnfinders is a game that twitch chat repeatedly spammed Doug to play, to the point of Doug going insane. In "The Legend of Barn Finders: A Historical Documentary" this entire event is summarised. The endless nagging on Doug to play barnfinders made him finally give in, and the experience was in his own words "Incredible. Is there anything this game can't do?" despite his previous statement that Barnfinders "very well may be the worst game that exists".

Parkzer[]

Parkzer is *not* a lawyer or police officer, but is one of DougDoug's many friends. Parkzer is known as a incredibly dense to media and internet culture in the DougDoug lore, Parkzer first appeared in "I brought a Real Lawyer to teach me Gun Safety". Later, Parkzer appeared in more videos (as a voice) where he is sometime clueless about internet culture and what Doug meant.

Parkzer has his own website.

1751[]

One and a half hours into Rosa's 23rd birthday stream DougDoug challenged twitch chat to complete Sea Otter themed quizzes on Sporcle via clickmaps, one of these quizzes was a fill in the blank quiz, and one of the options was "1751". Twitch chat kept on yelling the answer 1751 even if it didn't fit and said phrases like "This is literally 1751." Ever since then 1751 has been a replacement for 1984 and is used by twitch chat whenever DougDoug bans a word/phrase from chat.[13]

Dingus Bobingus[]

Started as a joke Twitch Chat spammed during the Bunny Suit stream, but then they vandalized the Kingdom Hearts wiki, and later made a page for Dingus on the Kingdom Hearts Fanon Wiki.[14]

Pope[]

In DougDoug's first video of the "AI Invasion" series, Twitch Chat first took control of Vatican City, meaning the Pope belonged to them.[15] But because of unfortunate events, they fled the kingdom and disappeared into the forest. Because of that, and in every other video in the series, Twitch Chat tried to elect a new Pope whenever they could.

Poob/Ploob[]

A member of Doug’s chat in "Can you bike down GTA's Mountain using ONLY your voice?" which he suggests one of the voice controls should be “poob”, Doug thinks it’s a meaningless phrase (the chatter stated later on that it was a word he and his siblings made up) but Doug googles it anyways, he finds out it is the name of a Star Wars: Ewoks character. And watches "Ploob or poob: Star Wars ewoks". One chatter points out that it sounds like he said “Ploob” and not “poob”, Doug rewatches and asserts that it is poob. They later held a vote to see which it was, and they decided that it was Ploob. The creator of the show, Paul Dini, also said that it was Ploob.[16]

The words “poob” and “ploob” are both now banned in Doug’s chat, presumably because he found the jokes to be repetitive and unfunny.[citation needed] In 2023 he read a twitch chat message after talking about Pumbaa from The Lion King, someone in chat replied to that and said “it’s pronounced Ploomba.” Doug said that it was “the first funny Ploob joke in years.”[citation needed]

Doug proceeds to ban words, phrases, and jokes[]

In the video Beating 25 Mario levels in 1 life, but banning all words, Doug firstly proclaimed to ban the Deez Nuts joke for one million seconds in attempt to stop spam.[17] Later in the stream, Doug proceeded to ban more word and phrases, he also say "take him outback mods". Friends til Death[]

Friends til Death is a Podcast channel Doug started with Failboat in 2022 in which one of them would play a video game until they die, when they do the podcast ends instantly.[18] The podcasts often last only a few seconds. Despite this the video often goes on for 10 or 20 more minutes of a black screen to make it seem like a serious and long video at first.
