Douglas DeMuro (born: May 22, 1988 (1988-05-22) [age 35]), is an American automotive YouTuber reviewing cars usually within his choices or offered. Doug started YouTube in 2013 to complement his articles on Jalopnik, who he wrote for at the time. He later became the editor of Autotrader Oversteer, where he continutes to write articles today. His YouTube channel quickly rose to fame due to the comedic nature of his videos, where he explores a car's 'quirks and features' and he later on expanded to do car reviews on his channel. He is well known for his unique way of measuring how good a car is based on multiple factors, called the DougScore.

Personal Life

Originally from Denver, Colorado, Doug moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to study at Emory University, where he earned a degree in Economics. He later worked at Porsche Cars North America, where he quickly rose up the ranks to become the youngest manager in the company's history. During his time at Porsche, he began to write articles for various outlets such as Autotrader and The Truth About Cars in his spare time. In 2012, he quit his job at Porsche to pursue writing full time, and began writing for Jalopnik. He created a series where he would buy cars to own for a year at a time, usually voted for by the readers, which later became known as the DougCar. Since its inception, these are the cars that he has bought:

  • Cadillac CTS-V Wagon
  • Ferrari 360 Modena
  • Hummer H1
  • Nissan Skyline GT-R (R32)
  • Aston Martin V8 Vantage
  • Dodge Viper GTS
  • Nissan S-Cargo
  • Land Rover Defender 90

Doug's personal cars, a 2006 Range Rover and its replacement, a 2012 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Wagon, have also featured on his channel. The Range Rover in particular was renowned for its unreliability, which was documented in a series where DeMuro went over all the repairs that were paid by the CarMax bumper to bumper warranty on it.
