Eleanor "Elz"[1] (born: October 8, 1991 (1991-10-08) [age 33])[2], better known online as Elz the Witch, is an English[citation needed] YouTuber, radio and sports presenter who also works for the BBC.[3] She is known for her Sims videos and occasionally uploads vlogs.[4]

Early life[]

Elz was born in Suffolk before she went to boarding school at the age of 11 in Norwich.[5]

She started gaming when she was eight-years-old but was told she didn't look like a gamer.[5]

When she was there, Elz has said that she listened to 90s R&B, wasn't much of a talker and was mad about tech.[5]

She has worked in the tech industry since she graduated from university with a first class honours IT, Management and Business degree.[5]

Career[]

Elz started her YouTube channel in December 2018, where she rose to fame online after creating her gaming career. Elz often uploads The Sims videos as well as vlogs and other games.[6]

She has managed to earn more than 209,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel.[6]

Since then she has boosted her following through her 'Let's Plays' and 'playthroughs' of games. Elz provides commentary with her clips while playing games such as The Sims and Fortnite.[5]

Elz favourite games are Final Fantasy 7, Zelda Ocarina of Time, GTA San Andreas and The Sims.[5]

Controversy[]

Operation: Belong[]

In January 2024, it was also announced that Elz and Yung Filly will go head-to-head in a battle on an “exclusive map" live on Twitch in a partnership event with the army called “Operation: Belong" on January 24, 2024.[7] The announcement has gained controversy of the British Army's move to collaborate with Fortnite and use YouTubers as part of their recruitment drive as it's been pointed out how this advertisement could be appealing to kids. YouTuber ImAllexx was among the criticises, describing the entire thing as "dystopian as f***" and "disturbing".[8]
