Epic Games, also known as simply Epic, is an American video game company that was founded in 1991. Epic Games is known for developing video games such as Fortnite and the Gears of War series, as well as the acquisitions of Fall Guys and Rocket League.
History[]
Tim Sweeney founded Potomac Computer Systems in 1991, initially in Potomac, Maryland. After its first commercial video game, ZZT, the company changed its name to Epic MegaGames, Inc. in 1992, with Mark Rein as vice president. In 1999, the studio moved to Cary and changed its name to Epic Games.
