Alif Mumtaaz, better known online as Everything Windows (also known as Philip Gates (his pseudonym), Ewin (his nickname) is an Indonesian YouTuber who known for making videos based around the topic of Microsoft Windows, and series such as Ewin The Beta Explorer, and UNWINVER.
YouTube beginnings[]
He joined YouTube a few days before his birthday on November 11, 2017. A few days later on November 18, 2017, he uploaded the first video on the channel which shows the evolutions on Microsoft Windows logo. And a few months after that, he uploaded more videos including several tutorials which is now unlisted, an evolution of Microsoft Windows startup sound.
Back-to-back hiatus[]
During mid-2018 to early-2021, the channel is going through several hiatus due to its channel creator being in a boarding school which limits the use of computers and cellphone, hence why the upload schedule is very unstable. The first hiatus is in 2019 which changes from monthly upload to bi-monthly (frequently) or unscheduled. In 2020, the upload schedule varies from bi-weekly to bi-monthly depending on which topic of the video is showcased in each video.
The final hiatus is in 2021 when he finished his middle school and decided to upload videos on the channel with weekly schedule which results in incremental subscriber count and channel views.
The channel has been through several hiccups when it comes to upload schedule as his computer setup started to dissolve temporarily, his internet goes through very slow connection speed for about a month, etc.
Starting from 2023, his editing and video style started to change drastically to more hyped and straightforward with "What is This?" video results to an exponential growth in video views up until today. This effectively reboots all series in the channel and merging them including Ewin The Beta Explorer and UNWINVER in order to follow the new style.
In January 2024, the channel went through temporary hiatus due to lack of stimulation/energy to do content creation[1]. Also, he's exploring new style for his future videos during the time of hiatus. In February 2024, he came back with some energy to run the channel and bringing Lumi Snowie as his video editor.[2]
Seasonal production[]
Starting from March 2024, He changes the procedure and production slate for videos on his channel[3], mainly to increase video quantity while increasing quality in the process. He came up with the idea of Seasonal production which utilizes bulk video creation on the first 10 days of the month and assigning upload schedule to a certain time (1 video per 2 days, later changed to 1 video per 3 days) within the second to the final week of the month. All series on his channel are combined into one production procedure while retaining its distinct identity. Season 1 of the channel officially enters its production on March 10th, 2024[4], and premieres its first episode on March 16th, 2024[5]. Within the process, the channel got a Community Guideline warning allegedly due to "Harmful and dangerous content"[6] which pushes back the production of Season 1 and combining Season 2 which supposes to air on April into one season that spans between March and April. Although in video production, both seasons are referenced as "Season 1a" and "Season 1b" separately.
The bulk video production didn't last long as he soon entered university which pushes the video production back to near-hiatus stage with few videos uploaded within a month and a month of absences following. This makes Season 3 much longer to create with 6 months period, rather than the 2 months as intended. Starting Season 4 in 2025, each season is defined by a half portion of the year with even numbers designated for the first half of the year and odd numbers designated for the second half of the year.
