Fall Out Boy is an American rock band formed in Wilmette, Illinois, comprising of lead vocalist and guitarist Patrick Stump (born: April 27, 1987), bassist Pete Wentz (born: June 5, 1979, drummer Andy Hurley (born: May 31, 1980) and guitarist Joe Trohman (born: September 1, 1984).

The band was formed in 2001 by friends Pete Wentz and Joe Trohman in the village of Wilmette, New Trier Townshipp, Cook County, Illinois, United States. The band got their name from Simpsons character Fallout Boy. All four members had known each other or been friends before the band was formed. Lead vocalist Patrick Stump auditioned as a drummer originally, but was given the lead singer role when his extensive vocal range and talents were realized. Percussionist Andy Hurley originally joined specifically for the duration of a tour, but ended up joining the band as a full-time drummer. As of March 2023, the band has released eight studio albums, two live albums, two compilation albums, eight EPs, and thirty-five singles.
History[]
Fall Out Boy signed a deal with Fueled By Ramen, and received an advance from Island Records to record their debut studio album, Take This to Your Grave. Take This to Your Grave released in May 2003. Their second album, From Under the Cork Tree, followed in early 2005, and reached the Top Ten of Billboard's album chart. The album went double platinum, and earned Fall Out Boy a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.
They then began to work on their follow-up record with From Under the Cork Tree producer Neil Avron. Infinity on High, whose title was taken from one of Vincent Van Gogh's letters, released in early February 2007. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard charts, and went platinum one month later. The full-length studio album Folie à Deux followed in 2008. Fall Out Boy took an open-ended hiatus soon after the album's release, during which Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley joined a new band, Damned Things, and Wentz teamed up with Bebe Rexha to form Black Cards. Patrick Stump launched a solo career.
In February 2013, the band confirmed that they had reunited for their fifth album, Save Rock and Roll It was released in April 2013, and debuted at number one on the U.S. charts.
In January 2015, Fall Out Boy released their sixth album, American Beauty/American Psycho. The album debuted at number one. Make America Psycho Again, a remix of the album, was released in October 2015. In April 2017, Fall Out Boy revealed that their seventh album, M A N I A, would be released later that year. M A N I A released in January 2018, and debuted at number one on the Billboard charts upon its release.[1]
In January 2023, Fall Out Boy announced their eighth studio album, So Much (For) Stardust. The album was released on March 24th, 2023.
