Daniel "Dan" Smith (born: August 5, 1993), better known online as CavemanFilms, is an American YouTube comedian, gamer and the CEO of CavemanFilms LLC. He refers to his fan base as "the Dwellers," He is most notable for his Minecraft video game content, his series ㅣlike "Bad/Disturbing Games", and "Shenanderthals" is a series in which he and his friend play games that are usually either bad or just weird.

Caveman has attended gaming conferences such as the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle, Washington and the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, California. In November 2012, he attended a popular Minecraft convention called Minecon in Paris, France. While there his mother passed away, leaving him emotionally devastated and trapped in France with no way back to the United States until his plane would depart three days after. It's been said that the creator of Minecraft, Markus "Notch" Persson, had offered to find a plane for him to make the trip back to the USA, but all planes were booked and those that weren't would take over 30 hours to arrive. After arriving back home, Dan took a small hiatus on his channel, with good friends SkyDoesMinecraft and AntVenom kindly uploading videos on his behalf. A few weeks after, Dan had recovered to a point where he can continue doing video content and is now currently back to his usual cheery self.
In January 2023, few weeks has passed since his stepfather died and he've posted it as one of his own community posts. However he said that he'll would be back in 30th January, it was soon delayed to be 2 days shorter with release of [Night 1] - MINE Nights at Freddy's: Vacancy Filled.

His most viewed series ever was The Curse of Herobrine , a two part Minecraft Machinima uploaded onto the Machinima main channel. Together both parts have gathered over 2.5 million views.
CavemanFilms is also known for making cinematic Let's Plays, such as his Secrets of the Dwellers and Pixelmon Lapis series. He's stated countless times that the amount of effort he puts into those videos makes the time it takes to create one take a lot longer than a regular Let's Play, his fans still continue to feverishly ask for them on every video he posts.
Also Cavemanfilms has made a series called Mine Nights At Freddy's which is a kind of roleplay spinoff of the popular horror game, Five Nights at Freddy's. The roaster in this season is like the original game, Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, Golden Freddy, and Burnt Freddy. In this series(There are currently 6 seasons, with the seventh being uncomplete), him and AntVenom go through vents, find a secret room and defend for their lives until the clock turns six. In the first MNaF, Ronaldo is a stand in Purple Guy and murdered children in the pizzeria for 'torment' which is shown in MNaF 2 and for his 'Daughter' shown in MNaF 3.
In MNaF 2, they are offered a job at a Freddy Fazbear factory which has higher pay and deemed a little more safer. The Foreman walks them through and is different to the games. The roster here is Toy Freddy, Toy Chica, Toy Bonnie, Toy Vinnie, Toy Vixie, and incomplete models of Toy Freddy, Toy Foxy, Bonnie and Chica. The cameras are split so that Ant has the blue side and Dan has the red side which some go to the other's hallway so it's a team effort. The Foreman dies on Day 4 supposedly to Vixie and Dan and Ant decided to leave on Night 4 but dead bodies and boxes prevent them and become awfully terrified during the events of Night 4, Day 5 and Night 5.
In Fun Park (MNaF 3), we have William Afton, who is secretly Ronaldo, is working to make the park open. The Roster Of Animatronics is: Dan Animatronic, Ant Animatronic, Fredbear, Springbonnie, Freddy, Foxy, Chica, Bonnie, Vinny, Vixie, Nightmare Ant, The Puppet and Balloon Boy. Ant and Dan are both the managers at the Fredbear Theme park. During their stay here, Ant begins to remember there was a factory but Dan does not; Dan acts like an arrogant and greedy businessman. On the second night, the guards aren't there so they have to do it themselves and we have our first hint that the world around the fun park isn't as real as they thought. At the end of Night 2, Dan sees a glitchy faced Freddy and sees a memory of William Afton's daughter, Emilia die in a car crash. While trying to survive in the Theme park, Dan gets more information by Michael Afton (William Afton/Ronaldo's Son) on Night 6. During Night 4 and 5, Ant is killed in the real world and in this fake world, he turned into an Animatronic. However, Ronaldo/William Afton tries to stop Dan from escaping but he is able to escape with the help of Michael. He escapes by touching the thing that doesn't belong(which is several TV's?). We see Dan wake up from Fun Park and into Origins.
Origins (MNaF 4) takes place in a large facility in which Ronaldo makes the Animatronics. The Roster is the Largest out of all seasons with there being Withered Freddy, Withered Bonnie, Withered Foxy, Toy Freddy, Classic Freddy, Classic Bonnie, Classic Chica, Classic Foxy, Funtime Freddy, Bon-Bon, Circus Baby/Emilia Afton (William/Ronaldo's Daughter) Ballora/Clara Afton (William/Ronaldo's Wife) Funtime Foxy, Golden Freddy, Withered Golden Freddy, Endoskeleton, Plushtrap, Nightmare, Shadow Bonnie/Ant, The Puppet/Elizabeth Emily, Crying Child Gabriel/Freddy, Crying Child Fritz/Foxy, Crying Child Susie/Chica, Crying Child Jeremy/Bonnie, Ronaldo/Purple Guy/William Afton: Crushed in Springlock Suit. There are several events that happen that including Ant showing up as a Shadow Bonnie. The massive Facility is made up of a small Medical Bay, a maze, a massive lava river which is in a storage room, the smelter (which is what Ronaldo uses to burn bodies) as well as Sister Location, FNaF 4 House, and a sewer system that leads to the FNaF 2 Pizza Place. Once out of the Facility and in the FNaF 2 Pizza Place, Dan gives life to the FNaF 2 animatronics and they force Ronaldo into a Springlocked Bunny Suit and he dies in it.
Starlight Revival (MNaf 5) has been said to be something Dan regrets and is not important to the story as said in his MNaF tier list video. However Starlight Revival is a story in which Dan goes to another job instead of the MNaF 2 Factory job in which he gets enlisted into a new Company known as Starlight Entertainment which takes old aspects from Freddy Fazbears and puts pants with stars on it. The roster of animatronic is: Starlight Freddy, Starlight Foxy/Veronica, Starlight Puppet, Security Puppet/Elizabeth Emily, Tormented Freddy, Tormented Foxy/Veronica, Tormented Puppet, Shadow Bonnie, Phantom Freddy, Withered Golden Freddy, Withered Freddy, And Phantom Mangle/Veronica. Dan is trapped in this Nightmare however gets helped from a character named Ryan who was a worker at the factory but was then trapped in a Starlight Fredbear springlock suit by the vengeful spirit of Veronica who was killed in the same factory and now possess each Animatronic. The nightmare ends however when Dan tries to escape but is trapped inside and gets jumpscared by Phantom Mangle after waking up from the nightmare, Dan gets a phone call from Ant saying That he is finally good enough to be let out, this is where MNaF 5 ends with Dan getting out of his own house, saying: I can't wait to see him again.
Senary Saloon (MNaF 6) is something that Dan is proud of, as it has plot twists and more odd events. The roster of animatronic is: Cowpoke Freddy, Starlet Chica, Barhop Bonnie, Outlaw Foxy, Vinny, Vixie (A Mechanical bull which RUNS at the Security Office door and crashes), Other variations of the Fazbear crew show up known as the Salvage animatronics which are the same Animatronics from MNaF 1 which is made up of Salvage Bonnie, Salvage Freddy, Salvage Foxy and Salvage Chica. It seems under control as Ant is in charge and trustworthy? Ant made an A.I.(ai) called 'AL who tells Dan that Ant isn't who he thinks he is. After that Ant starts acting like how Dan did in Fun Park, being arrogant and rude, and doubts that there is anything in Dan's vents in his Office, However Dan always sees Animatronics trying to attack him. Every Night, he has to do a salvage and on Night 5 it's Ronaldo who is now known as Springtrap now, and it's revealed AL the A.I. is Michael (William/Ronaldo's Son) and the remnant lanterns protects Dan from death when in the Salvage Shed. AL shows Dan about remnant and how all this time the dead Childrens Remnants posses the Animatronics. On Night 6, Dan is able to turn Michael to Glitchtrap(However, it is different from the FNaF story because Glitchtrap in FNaF is actually WIlliam Afton but in MNaF it turns out Glitchtrap is Michael who is on Dans side.) and doesn't want Ant to know about him or his "Plan" to end the cycle of torment once and for all. Ant doesn't know but at the end of the episode, Ant calls Ronaldo his father. Episode 7, that being the last episode of Senary Saloon, reveals that Ant this whole time was a salvage looking version of Circus Baby who is William's Daughter. Emilia (Circus Baby) has also been the one all along that has been in control and not Ronaldo, for Ronaldo; it was just a pawn. Michael becomes a physical form of Glitchtrap and tries to hold Emilia off but is defeated and turns back into A.I. AL. AL helps Dan throughout the Night and at 5 AM the generator explodes and sets the entire place on fire. Dan watches as the place falls apart along with its Animatronics also concluding the DEATH of Ronaldo. Baby is crushed however when Dan gets to the Salvage shed he faces a burnt looking Baby in which he and AL are able to wipe her memory out of existence getting rid of Emilia's soul in Baby leaving nothing but a rotten suit. Dan is able to escape and walks home as an alive man. However, the newspaper at the end of the episode sets up for a 7th season, which is named "Vacancy Filled".
In the beginning of "DAY 1", the firefighter calls Dan a lucky dude due to him being able to save himself from fire. Dan replies with "Do you call this luck?". After that, they move him out to just let him say that Ant we've seen in the sixth season wasn't even real Ant, but a "evil possessed robot" and mentions that he's still processing it a little bit but it didn't stopped him from being a hero. Five years later after that; Dan finds a similar restaurant as in-MNaF 1 in Virtual Reality (VR, for short), and calls it even better than in actual reality. He'll try to ask Ant for a "job application" and he'll try his best at answering all of them correctly, after giving him these back. Ant mentions that Dan is hired. Ant reveals anything in-restaurant to Dan, however Freddy seems to be missing but for sure, Ronaldo is just giving him "repairs" in the security office. We are introduced to newer things like "Prize Corner". Dan continues criticizes anything like the mirrors on Prize Corner and "shitting on virtual reality", but he is actually glad that Ronaldo is a nightshift guard instead of a shady person. In "NIGHT 1", we are introduced to 2 newer mechanics, the glowing pizzas and the sun. And that's literally it. During "DAY 2", Ant asks Dan that did he saw any suspicious activities with them. Dan does answers "Yeah. Yeah, I, I definitely did. I definitely remember being freaking killed by Foxy in VR.", While re-checking the pirate's cove, Dan gets shocked that Foxy is gone. Ant would just say "That to me would suggest that you killed him". Dan gets two quests, to restock the shelves for Prize Corner, or even help out Ronaldo. Dan tries to do the Ant's request first, but somehow the entrance to that room is locked. Dan mentions that there is a vent and he can go there,
In-jokes[]
In his various videos, CavemanFilms has called objects or said phrases that people deemed sort of funny, and they've become in-jokes on his channel. Some of the in-jokes are:
Calling the Nether's Ghast a "Babyface". In one series he did with AntVenom, the ghasts were textured to look like mutated anuses so they were thereby dubbed "Babyanus".
The Minecraft item "bone" that is dropped by skeletons or found in chest is called a club whenever Caveman finds one. This is a reference to bone clubs, a weapon actual cavemen used back in the day. The subsequent item "bonemeal" is called club dust because of it being powdered club.
Caveman has also expressed a great amount of disdain towards the non-aggressive bat mob. Frequently seeking them out to kill them, he calls the bats various forms of insults but usually refers to them as "Demon birds". He knows that they are in fact mammals, but he still chooses to call them so.
In a Cops and Robbers video, Dan was called 'Fluffy Face' by SkyDoesMinecraft, then jokingly replying "How'd you know my last name?"
When something's acting not to his liking he might call it a frontbutt. According to Caveman, "a frontbutt's a butt in the front, and that's just what it is." He also sometimes uses it in a joking manner when playing with friends.
