Minus World is a group of YouTubers. Members of the Minus World include Nathaniel Bandy, Nicobbq, Nintendrew, Charriii5, TetraBitGaming, DPadGamer, SwankyBox, Simpleflips, and Luke and Kevin from SMG4 and Hobo Bros. The group plays a wide variety of video games.
History and formation[]
The Minus World group first began to form in September 2017, when the Hobo Bros began their "10 YouTubers vs 1 Speedrunner" series of videos. These videos would consist of 10 YouTubers trying to work together to collect all the stars in Super Mario 64 before one speedrunner could do so. The YouTubers are all able to play on the same game of Super Mario 64 thanks to the Mario 64 multiplayer hack, made by Kaze Emanuar.
The first video in the Hobo Bros' series consisted of current minus world members Nathaniel Bandy, Nintendrew, Charriii5, and Simpleflips, as well as special guests such as Muselk, TimTom, and TheAmaazing. As the series progressed, many YouTubers and speedrunners appeared on the show, speedrunners Cheese05 and Bluebob, and YouTubers such as SomethingElseYT, AttackingTucans, and TJ Henry Yoshi were just a few of the guests on the series. Current Minus World members Nicobbq, SwankyBox, TetraBitGaming, and DPadGamer also began to consistently appear.
However, it was only in February 2018, when all 10 members of Minus World officially announced on their channels that they were forming an official YouTube group. After this announcement, collaboration videos between all the members became far more frequent, with the group playing video games such as Gary's Mod, VR chat, and a variety of Nintendo games. The group met up at E3 2018 and E3 2019, renting out a large house for the whole group to live in each time. During this time, a large number of collaboration videos were uploaded by the members.
In December 2019, the relatively inactive Minus World channel began to receive consistent uploads, with all the members of the group appearing in videos on the channel. They upload podcasts, featuring the members of Minus World, as well as gaming videos. Luke and Kevin also officially stated on this channel that they were now 'legacy members' of Minus World, due to how busy they were running their 3D animation company, Glitch Productions, as well as still making content on both their channels. This means they would not be appearing in most of the future Minus World content. However, the brothers still intend on meeting up with Minus World at conventions, and will most likely appear in content with them during that time.
Currently, the Minus World channel is where most of the collaborations take place. However, the members of Minus World consistently make appearances on each other's channels.
Members[]
Nathaniel Bandy[]
Nathaniel Bandy is an American YouTuber, who creates a wide variety of content including video game challenges, and the "Good and Bad" series[1] (formally known as "Triggered"[2] and "Mind Blowing"[3]), where Nathaniel points out issues in a video game in an over the top, comedic fashion. He also produces live-action, narrative-driven videos. Nathaniel also has a second channel, Bathaniel Nandy, where his mischievous brother plays a wide variety of modded and un-modded video games.[4]
Nintendrew[]
Nintendrew, otherwise known as Drew, is an American YouTuber who makes retrospective videos, as well as videos showing off his incredible collection of video games. Nintendrew is also famous for his DIY videos; some examples of his DIY projects include a VR Nintendo Switch[5], as well as a custom arcade cabinet dock for the Nintendo Switch.[6]
SimpleFlips[]
SimpleFlips is an American YouTuber and streamer, who is famous for being an accomplished speedrunner in Super Mario 64.[7] SimpleFlips almost exclusively plays Super Mario 64 on his channel, playing different ROM hacks made by modders. He also plays games such as Tetris and Super Mario Maker 2. SimpleFlips is also famous for the huge amount of memes and jokes that originate from his channel, including the infamous "Shoutouts to SimpleFlips" meme.
As a streamer, most of Simple's streams can be found on his VOD channel, SimpleClips.
Nicobbq[]
Nicobbq is a Canadian YouTuber, who produces a lot of different types of videos on his channel. He makes Top Tens, Ranking Videos, and video game challenge videos[8], such as his "Is It Possible Without a Coin?"[9] series, where he tries to beat a Super Mario game without touching a single coin. Nicobbq also previously hosted his "Not A" series, especially his video "Mario is not a Hero! ".
Nico also hosts a number of secondary channels such as Nico Shorts, a hub for his TikToks and YouTube Shorts; More Nico (formerly known as Super Nico Maker), where he uploads Let's Plays and Color Challenges; and Nico Stream Archives, where his YouTube Stream VODs are uploaded.
SwankyBox[]
Bradley Burke, or SwankyBox, is an American YouTuber whose channel primarily focuses on video game theories[10], as well as strange discoveries and mysteries in video games.[11]
Swanky also hosts the popular video game horror channel HorrorScoped, where he covers a slew of horror-related video games ranging from Resident Evil[12] to Poppy Playtime.[13]
He once co-hosted SwankyZone, a channel primarily used as a gaming channel, where Swanky and his co-host, Stowgee, would play video games such as Super Mario Maker 2. Swanky began to take a more prominent role in the Minus World content after the Hobo Bros became to busy to continue collaborating with the group. He continued the Minus World collaborations on his second channel, SwankyZone before the Minus World channel became the place where the collabs were uploaded.
He is also a published author, with his book "The YouTuber Journey"[14], which describes the steps and skills on how to become successful on the platform.
As well, SwankyBox is the creator of Zardy's Maze[15], a retro-style challenge-horror game set in a cornfield. The character and subsequently the game rose to prominence during the Friday Night Funkin' craze of 2021.[16]
TetraBitGaming[]
TetraBitGaming is a Canadian YouTuber whose content focuses on looking at scrapped and unused content in a huge variety of video games, as well as any glitches and bugs in his series Lost Bits[17]. He covers a variety of video games but is typically focused on Nintendo. Tetra also has a second channel, TetraBitPlus, where he plays video games and uploads stream highlights, as well as TetraBitREPLAY, where he uploads stream VODS, and TetraBitClips, where he uploads YouTube Shorts.
Charriii5[]
Charriii5 is a Mexican/American YouTuber and artist, who makes a wide variety of content on his channel. He makes game rewrites[18], one-man dubs[19], has tackled game challenges and Reoction videos[20] (yes, that is how he spells it; no it's not a typo)[21], but is arguably most popular due to his "Everything Wrong With" series, a pastiche of the format popularized by the YouTube channel CinemaSins. In it, he critiques the stories of video games in an over the top, comedic fashion.
Charriii5 is also working on a video game project, "PROJECT: Soul Star", a fantasy action-RPG where character and narrative is a major driving force.
Charriii also hosts a second channel, CharriiiLIVE, where he uploads stream VODS.
He also created Nathaniel Bandy's YouTube avatar.[22]
DPadGamer[]
DPadGamer is an American YouTuber whose channel explores Easter Eggs and secrets in video games.[23] His content also looks at glitches and other bugs found in games.[24] DPad is also no stranger to video game challenges,[25] often trying to discover how few times a basic mechanic needs to be performed in order to complete a video game.[26]
DPad's second channel, DPadExtra, has gaming videos and stream highlights, as well as other content including book reviews. Videos where he talks about media other than video games he has explored, such as books, shows, and movies, can be found on his channel, Consume Content.
DPad is currently the editor of Minus World.
Grant[]
Grant Ball, also known as "Grant from Treesicle" is an American YouTuber, whose individual content consists of talking about the existential and the metaphysical. Grant has been a friend of SwankyBox for years, and so was someone they thought to contact regarding editing for the Minus World channel, when the editing process became too much for the core members to handle, on top of their own channels.
While Grant spent a while behind the scenes, editing, he is no stranger to being featured in Minus World content as well. Nowadays, Grant has taken on a more managerial role for Minus World, assisting in making sure the channel runs as smoothly as it can, deferring editing duties to fellow member, DPadGamer.
Grant is also behind the Minus World Animated, "Bacon Goes on Flesh Wounds".
SMG4 / Hobo Bros[]
Luke Lerdwichagul, or SMG4 , is an Australian YouTuber who creates Super Mario 64 machinima videos, using characters from the Super Mario universe, as well as other characters from films and video games, alongside his own original characters. Along with his brother, Kevin, the two would run the channel Hobo Bros, which mainly consisted of gaming and reactions to memes.
The Hobo Bros channel is where the Minus World group originally formed, specifically with the 10 YouTubers vs 1 Speedrunner series. A huge variety of different YouTubers appeared in this series, and amongst this big list of guests were all the current members of Minus World. As the series continued, the team began to receive a more consistent roster of players, most of which were the YouTubers that would join Minus World. After the official announcement of Minus World, almost all of the bigger Minus World collabs appeared on the Hobo Bros channel.
Luke and Kevin now run the 3D animation company, GLITCH Productions, where a number of their shows are uploaded, including Meta Runner, Sunset Paradise and Murder Drones.
Due to how busy they became with running their company, they found it difficult to make time to be featured in Minus World content. As such, the group came to a unanimous decision to consider Luke and Kevin 'legacy members' of Minus World, meaning that while they'll always be considered a part of the group, they will not be appearing in most of the future content.[27]

Minus Cast[]
Minus Cast is a podcast created by The Minus World. The podcasts consist of some of the members of Minus World talking about and sharing their opinions on the specific topic of the podcast. The podcasts normally focus on relevant gaming news. It is currently available on YouTube, SoundCloud and Spotify.
Minus World 'Races and Challenges'[]
Various members of the Minus World group will take part and compete in a variety of races and challenges within different video games. These competitions normally involve having to complete a certain task or get to a certain point in a video before everyone else. These races and challenges normally take place in Super Mario games, such as Super Mario Maker 2[28] and Super Mario 64[29]. However, the group has competed in other game series such as Pokémon[30] and Super Smash Bros.[31]
Minus World 'Vibing With' Games[]
A more relaxed gaming series made by Minus World in comparison to the more competitive racing and challenge videos. Members of Minus World will play video games together. So far, the group has mainly been playing old flash games that members of the group grew up with, as well as modern games such as Minecraft Dungeons.
"Art" with Minus World[]
A series of one-offs where the members sit down and draw characters from different video game series, such as Mario and Sonic, usually within a certain time limit.
Minus World Quiz Shows[]
This series consists of a member of the group putting together a quiz that the rest of the members have to answer to earn points. This is one of the more competitive series the channel has, ranging from quizzes about quotes, to quizzes about limbs.
Trivia[]
- The name comes from a glitch in the original Super Mario Bros. game, where the player can clip through some blocks and go to the first pipe before the Warp Zone loads in World 1-2.
- The first collaborations by the members of Minus World were on the Hobo Bros channel, for the Super Mario 64 "10 YouTubers vs 1 Speedrunner" series.
- Minus World videos started being uploaded on SwankyBox's second channel, SwankyZone, before the group made the official Minus World channel as the place for all Minus World content.[32]
- The ROM hack creator Kaze Emanuar has created a large amount of the mods that Minus World used in their Super Mario 64 videos, the Super Mario 64 online mod being a very significant one that allowed the ten YouTubers to all work together in the same game in the "10 YouTubers vs 1 Speedrunner" series.
- On March 26, 2022, Minus World and Nathaniel Bandy (along with Bathaniel Nandy) got hacked by a group impersonating MicroStrategy. The channel names were changed, and Minus World eventually got terminated, being reinstated about a week later.
