Wendy Jie Huang (born: January 9, 1986 (1986-01-09) [age 38]),[1] better known online as Wengie (also known as Wendy Ayche), is a Chinese-Australian YouTuber, singer, dancer, and voice actress.

Wengie first joined YouTube on September 9, 2010, and posted her first video in 2013. Ever since then she has uploaded videos of Life Hacks, DIYs, Craft Ideas, Slime Videos, Experiments, Pranks, and Challenges. Wengie has also previously posted videos of her childhood and a Draw My Life video. In Wengie's videos, her "Twin Sister" (Wendy) has appeared multiple times. Wendy is actually not her twin sister. She is just a fictional character created by Wengie to gain popularity.

On the June 23, 2020, Wengie posted a 10-minute long video titled 'Goodbye Mia' about how her cat Mia passed away.

Music career[]

Other than being a YouTuber, Wengie has released two original songs. Her first single "Oh I Do" was released on November 25, 2017. It is her first-ever song and the only Chinese song she has done. On July 10, 2018, she released her first English single called "Cake". On 18th October 2019, she released her first Korean single called "Empire". And on 1st May 2020, she released her 2nd Chinese song "Learn To Meow" which went viral in China and was on #1 Trending on the Chinese Music Chart. This Song features XiaoPanPan and XiaoFengFeng. These songs were released on her music channel.[2] She also has a voiced Bliss in the Australian and New Zealand version of The Powerpuff Girls in 2017.

As of 2018, she has released the songs "Cake," "Oh I Do," "Deja Vu," and "Ugly Christmas Sweater." On March 9th, 2019, Wengie released a Music Video for her new song Lace Up. The video featured Rebecca Zamolo, CloeCouture, Sharlene Taule, Jessica Reynoso, Susie Shu, Matt Steffanina, Jun Curry Ahn, Shawn Wasabi, David Amber, Shadae Lamar Smith, and Skyy John. Wengie has also been featured a number of times on her ex-fiance Max's channel, Maxmello.[3]

In 2019 and 2020, she started collaborating with Asian artists. With David Amber and eill, she made "Talk Talk - Japanese Version"; "EMPIRE" (both Korean and English) with Minnie of (G)-IDLE; "Thing You Want" (both Hindi and English) with Shalmali Kholgade and Ikka; "Learn To Meow - EDM Version" with XiaoPanPan and XioFengFeng and "Mr. Nice Guy" (Tagalog) with Inigo Pascual. The music video for "Thing You Want" was animated because of the pandemic going on.

In June 2021, Wengie quit Wengie Music and posted a video on her music channel saying that her alter-ego, the real her, Wraya will be taking over. On June 24, 2021, Wraya released her debut song "Bitter". On July 29, 2021, she released the song "Trust Issues" and on August 7, 2021, the music video for "Trust Issues" was released.

Channels[]

Wengie has five channels. She has a music channel, where she posts her original songs, called Wengie Music. She has a channel called Wengie's Life, where she posts vlogs, Q and As and other, more personal videos than she posts on her main channel. Her third channel is ReactiCorns, which posts reaction that formerly features her ex-fiance, Max. Reacticorns was originally called "Jumbo Bunny" which featured her fiance, Max doing DIYs. They later changed it to ReactiCorns. Then she has her main channel, in which she posts prank videos, hacks, 24-hour challenges and slime videos. She has a channel called How To Slime where she posts videos of her making slime. Her most recently created channel is Munchkin, where she posts videos of her cats doing challenges and compilations.

Personal Life[]

Wengie lives in Australia. She also has residences in Los Angeles, California, United States and her hometown, Guangzhou, China.

Wengie was born in Guangzhou, China. Her name in Chinese is pronounced as "Wen-Jie". At an early age, her parents emigrated to Melbourne, Australia, thus adapting her name to "Wengie" for the English language. She has a younger brother named Jim. She attended an all-girls Secondary School in Sydney, Australia where she graduated in 2004. Upon graduating in 2004, she studied accounting in college. She finished in 2008 and got a degree in accounting and she worked as an account before she resigned and got another job as a social media consultant. She also has two cats named Coco and Boomba, who are part of the cat channel, Munchkin. On 13th August 2015, it was announced on her Instagram account that she was engaged with her ex-boyfriend Max, she announced her engagement story on YouTube on 1st October 2015.

On February 7th, 2022, Wengie announced that her and Max broke up.
