Filmento is a YouTuber who makes video essays analyzing movies, as well as talking about video games and discussing creators. He launched his YouTube channel on June 24, 2013. He proclaims his nationality as "Krakozhian", the fictional country from Steven Spielberg's The Terminal.

Content[]

Filmento began his career on YouTube dissecting fellow content creators and making videos analyzing why movies failed or succeeded, eventually committing solely to the latter. His most famous series is an "Anatomy of a Failure"[1] series, where he dissects movies that were considered failures (be it at the box office, critically, or from his own personal taste) and the various issues with them, often divided into three categories. In stark contrast is his "Film Perfection series"[2], a series where he talks about why a film works, or managed to win over an audience. Other series are "One v One"[3], in which he compares two similar films to see how one succeeded over the other, and "Blueprint for Greatness"[4], in which he attempts to write the best possible script for an upcoming movie. He primarily focuses on blockbusters, specifically superhero films.

Filmento often cites his favorite franchise as Pirates of the Caribbean[5], and refers to the second entry, Dead Man's Chest, as the greatest film of all time.[6] He also cites Terminator 2 and Mission Impossible - Fallout as the greatest action movies of all time.[7] He occasionally makes reference to Ducktales as his favorite show as well.

Trivia[]

  • The director of Shazam, David F. Sandberg, acknowledged on Sardonicast that he watches his videos[8][9]
  • He occasionally reads rejected scripts and gives his opinions on them
