Fredrick Jamel Tipton (born: June 14, 1982
), better known professionally as Freddie Gibbs, is an American rapper known for his music.Life[]
Tipton was born and raise in Gary, Indiana, on June 14, 1982. He played football at a university but was expelled later. He was enlisted into the U.S. Army as a part of a diversion program, but was dishonorably discharged after being caught smoking marijuana.
Career[]
Tipton's rap career started in 2004 when he released his first full-length project, a mixtape titled Full Metal Jackit, which he later released a sequel that same year. He was signed to Interscope Records at that time and began working on his debut album. He was dropped from the label in 2006 when the man who signed him left. He released his debut extended play titled Str8 Killa in 2010. He signed to Young Jeezy's label, CTE World, in 2011, but left in 2012. He was a part of the musical duo "MadGibbs" along with musician Madlib. He would continue to release music and collaborate with other artists.
