GOG.com, formerly known as Good Old Games, is a Polish digital distribution platform for video games and films that was founded in 2008. It is currently headquartered in Warsaw, Poland.[1] It is owned by CD Projekt.

Pre-beginnings[]

In May 1994, GOG's owner, CD Projekt was founded by Marcin Iwiński and Michał Kiciński.

Beginnings[]

In 2008, Good Old Games was founded.

Shutdown Hoax[]

During September 19-22, 2010, the GOG.com website was disabled, leaving behind messages on the website and their Twitter accounts had announced that the site had been closed.[2] However, A spokesman for Good Old Games announced that the site was not being shut down, and on September 22, 2010, GOG.com revealed that this shutdown was a marketing hoax as part of the site coming out of beta.[3]

Nvidia Collab[]

On November 19, 2020, Nvidia and GOG.com announced a collaboration that allows GOG.com users to launch Cyberpunk 2077 through the cloud gaming service GeForce Now.[4]

YouTube[]

On January 16, 2009, GOG created their YouTube channel. The first video was uploaded on January 17, 2009, titled "Unofficial promotional video for GOG.com".
