Judson Chapman (born: March 29, 1975)[1][2], better known online as Generikb, is an American Let's Play YouTube commentator living in Bulgaria with his wife Ettie Chapman. He's a self-proclaimed "gaming hermit" , the Creator of the Hermitcraft Server and a former member of the Mindcrack Server. Currently he's a full time streamer on Twitch.
Channel History[]
He began uploading Minecraft content to YouTube on August 1, 2011 and slowly grew his channel by producing consistent content. It started out as a hobby for him, and it was only after six months of content creation that he began monetizing his channel. For a long time though, he was focused more on the enjoyment that he derived from content creation than from the hope of turning it into a living. His goals gradually changed as his channel continued to grow.
On April 23, 2012, Generikb made his first Let's Play series of Hermitcraft and was invited to join the Mindcrack Server by Guudeboulderfist in August 2012, after they had met at PlayOnCon 2012. His Hermitcraft Let's Play series ended on April 13, 2013 and gave up his administrative rights for the server he created to Xisumavoid while he was still making minecraft videos.
In early 2014, he decided to branch out into other video games and has remained a variety streamer since then. That was also around the time that he transitioned to becoming a fulltime content creator.
On April 3, 2015, it was announced Generikb would also be parting ways with Mindcrack, because he "did not wish to sign certain legal agreements". ; he himself noted that his participation in future UHCs was unlikely.
By the time he decided to start streaming on Twitch in May 2018, he had reached 1 million subscribers on his YouTube channel and it has since become his main medium. This decision was largely due to his dissatisfaction with the way in which YouTube had changed its operations, making it harder for him to monetize his content on their platform.

Personal life[]
Generikb was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He moved regularly throughout his schooling due to his father's work. He recalls living in Texas, Tennessee, Florida, Massachusetts, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Ohio.
While attending college, GB was known as "Generic Bluesman" while playing in a band known as The Sun Tea Bandits. He shortened the name to "Generikb" to use in IRC. GB studied electronic and computer engineering in college.
Generikb was married on November 5, 1999. He says he and his wife wanted to have kids but couldn't due to medical issues. Since February 1, 2013, Generikb creates YouTube content full time.
Generikb previously lived in Lake in the Hills, Illinois but moved to Sofia, Bulgaria in November 2013, to be with his ill mother-in-law. His mother-in-law, referred to as "Mammo", passed away on March 20, 2016.
On August 15, 2017, Generikb announced that he was going to be traveling around the world with his wife for a year.
In October 2019, Generikb moved to Phuket, Thailand after spending 1.5 years living in Bali, Indonesia. Due to the pandemic, Covid-19, he and his wife has resided in Phuket, Thailand and are safe. Until Covid-19 restrictions on travel has lifted, Generikb and his wife has yet to determine where their next destination may be, TBD.
Generikb's PO Box is now closed as he has moved to Bulgaria. He used to accept fanmail through his old PO box, and shared what he received through episodes of "HAPPY HERMIT FANMAIL TIME!".
