Vince is yet to release Chapter 5. However on a Q&A livestream, Vince stated that Chapter 5 is at least 50% complete, and estimates that chapter 5 will release somewhere in mid 2022. Vince then did a poll on Youtube and Twitter, about releasing chapter 5 with one level or complete the entire chapter and then release it. On Youtube, the majority of fans wanted one level to be released at a time, while on twitter, the majority wanted the entire chapter to be released. Vince then stated that chapter 5 will have 4 levels and thus he will release the chapter in 2 parts, the first part will contain the first 2 levels and the second part will have the last two levels.
Trivia[]
- He has a 4 year old son.
Dark Deception Trivia[]
Chapter 1[]
- Chapter 1 is the first and only chapter to include only one level. Every following chapter will contain two to three levels for the player to go through.
- Agatha's teaser at the end of the chapter shows her spinning around as a little girl's laughter is heard. However, in the actual chapter she is voiced by Kathryn Cressida, giving her spoken dialogue.
- Malak will not appear at the ballroom door until the player returns from "Monkey Business".
- This chapter originally didn't have a trailer, but shared one with the other levels in the "Dark Deception Complete Edition Steam Trailer"
Chapter 2[]
- Chapter 2 begins the two-level-per-chapter tradition that will appear in Chapter 3 as well, while Chapters 4 and 5 will have three levels per chapter.
- This chapter is the first to introduce various mechanics, including powers, barriers, level entrance obstacles, and the presence of Malak within the levels.
- The chapter's title, Into Madness is named after a song used in the 2014 demo with the same name.
- Chapter 2 is the first chapter where every enemy has a voice actor.
- Before the enhanced version, there were no boss fights in this chapter.
- Agatha's level was present in the 2014 demo, however it was never released publicly until 2023 due to Agatha's AI was broken to the point that the level was impossible to complete.
Chapter 3[]
- Originally, Chapter 3 was supposed to be released on May 31st, but was later changed to June 7th, then to June 24th.
- It was explained that the reason for the delay (besides bugs) was to expand the design and gameplay of Crazy Carnevil. As a result, the studio received backlash from many people, but they announced that it was essential to make the game smooth and less bug-filled. Ironically, when Chapter 3 was finally released, a big bug in Crazy Carnevil caused many players to skip Zone 2, which made it impossible to achieve an S rank on the level. This was fixed shortly afterwards.
Chapter 4[]
- Chapter 4 was the most long awaited chapter until now. Before its release, it was in development for over 2 years.
- The Dark Deception team tried to conceal most of the chapter's content during its production.
- Chapter 4 is so far the second chapter to have all of its enemies be voiced, the first being Chapter 2.
- Chapter 4 has more enemies than Chapters 1, 2, and 3 combined.
- Furthermore, Chapter 4 has more music than Chapters 1, 2, and 3 combined, having a total of 20 total tracks.
- This is the only chapter to have an updated cover. This was because the Trigger Teddies and the Matron were initially planned as the only enemies of their levels, with Mama Bear and the Reaper Nurses not being created yet.
- Vince confirmed in a Q&A video that the team w as developing chapters 4 and 5 simultaneously. This is done to facilitate Chapter 5's development after Chapter 4's release.
- Each level in Chapter 4 (along with Chapter 5) has three zones, except for Torment Therapy which included two zones (not counting the Matron's boss arena). This was revealed in the 2nd and 5th Q&A, respectively.
- Each level in Chapter 4 has between 350 - 600 shards.
- Every enemy in Chapter 4 turns into their Nightmare Modes before collecting all of the soul shards, just like the Clown Gremlins in the second zone of "Crazy Carnevil". The Reaper Nurses are already presented in their Nightmare Mode when entering zone 2 of Torment Therapy, the Joy Joy Gang are transformed into theirs after being electrocuted in Mascot Mayhem, and the Trigger Teddies and Mama Bear turn into their because of zone 3's lighting in Bearly Buried.
- In Bearly Buried, there used to be a display bug that made it impossible to achieve S Rank, it showed up to 3 bonus shards while only 2 bonus shards were found. This bug has now been fixed.
Chapter 5[]
- A secret level will be unlocked when all the previous levels have S ranks, which, according to a Twitter post from Glowstick Entertainment, will uncover the game's true ending.
- This is further supported by the 4th Q&A, where Vince confirmed the game will have multiple endings.
- Vince Livings stated that Chapter 5 might be the hardest chapter in the game compared to Chapter 4.
- Vince backed this up on Twitter by describing the chapter as, "absolute madness".
- In the second episode of the Q&A, Vince confirmed that this chapter (along with Chapter 4) will have 3 zones in the levels.
- The game's twitter account mentioned twice that Chapter 5 and Chapter 4 will both have three levels. However, in the third Q&A, Vince mentioned that Chapter 5 has more levels than Chapter 4.
- In the 12th Q&A, Vince confirmed that Chapter 5 has 4 levels. Vince later clarified in the sixteenth Q&A that S-ranking every level will give chapter 5 four levels in total.
- In the latter Q&A, Vince also confirmed each of Chapter 5's levels will feature multiple bosses.
- In the seventh Q&A, Vince revealed that the tenth portal enemy’s gender is male.
- In the Cutting Room Vol. 3, one of the cut themes is known as Malak's Lair, which implied that at one point the final level would be Malak's Lair.
- In the fifteenth episode of the Q&A, Vince confirms that all other enemies from previous nightmares will likely return as a threat in this chapter where the player has to deal with all of them again, which could make the chapter more challenging and difficult.
- Vince made a poll where people could vote if they wanted to have all four levels at the same time, or if they wanted multiple parts.
- Based on the poll, he decided to split the chapter into half; levels nine and ten will release in the first part, and levels eleven and twelve will release in the second half.
- Vince revealed in Ertyez's video, that the Chapter 5 assets are not in the game yet, and that the Mannequins portal hallway will have an obstacle upon the chapter's release.
- In two posts on Twitter, Vince confirmed that Chapter 5 adds 13 new characters models, which none comes from returning characters.
