Ghost King's Revenge[]

A video game about the band, Ghost King's Revenge (titled Good Kid: Ghost King's Revenge on the title screen) was made for the band on itch.io, with the band soundtracking the entire thing, and not only making original chiptune songs, but chiptune remixes of their entire discography at the time. The plot of the game revolves around the titular Ghost King stealing the band's mascot (as seen on the single cover art for Drifting)[5], and the band members (who the player plays as) having to go defeat the Ghost King and many other ghosts, and then get their mascot back.[6]

Trivia[]

  • Fellow indie rock band Lovejoy once accidentally copied Good Kid's Tell Me You Know song, writing a very similar song called Coronado. However, once lead singer Wilbur Soot realized they had copied Good Kid after he heard the song on his way home, Lovejoy immediately scrapped the song. Apparently, it was also because Wilbur hated the song, and though it was "too wet".[7] Since then, the two bands have toured together multiple times.[8][9]
  • The band was originally named "Lyon Lay", and played their first show on March 5, 2015. [10]
  • Their music has been featured in the viral video game Fortnite.[11]
  • Their song Mimi's Delivery Service was heavily inspired by the anime Kiki's Delivery Service.[12]
