Wouter "Wally" De Backer, better known by his stage name Gotye (born: May 21, 1980 (1980-05-21) [age 43]), is a Belgian-Australian singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. The name "Gotye" is a pronunciation respelling of "Gauthier", the French cognate of his Dutch given name "Wouter" (English "Walter", hence the nickname "Wally"). He's collaborated with several other singers, most famously Kimbra on his hit single Someone I Used to Know. Since he debuted in 2001, he's released a total of three albums, Boardface, (2003), Like Drawing Blood, (2006), and Making Mirrors, (2011), all of which have been released independently, one collaborative album, Pulling the Stiches Out, (2018), with Les Campbell, one remix album, Mixed Blood, (2007), one live album, Live at the Live at the Songroom, (2020), and one video album, Video Mirrors, (2013).
