Akai Haato (赤井はあと)^{[citation needed]} (born: August 1, 2001 (2001-08-01) [age 24])^{[citation needed]}, also known by her split personality Haachama (はあちゃま) since 2020^{[citation needed]}, is a Japanese VTuber associated with hololive, as part of its first generation of VTubers alongside Mel Yozora, Aki Rosenthal, Matsuri Natsuiro, and Fubuki Shirakami.^{[citation needed]}

The first games Akai ever played were Limbo, QWOC and Getting Over It. She has also played Fall Guys, Limbo, Minecraft, Super Bunny Man, Among Us, Tetris, Ultimate Chicken Horse, Phasmophobia, Cooking Simulator, Overvooked 2, Papers, please and UNO. Most of her gaming streams are of Minecraft and helpful tutorials on them.^{[citation needed]}

Unlike most Hololive VTubers, Akai has a solid understanding of English, due to temporarily residing in Australia. Because of this, she has streams dedicated to teaching her Japanese-speaking audience English^[1]^[2]. She has covered English songs such as Uptown Funk, Shape of You, Take me home country road, Worth It and We Will Rock You. Her favorite English musician is Alan Walker.

However she has also covered Japanese songs such as levan pokka^[3] and Onegai muscle^[4]. Even her first original song, REDHEARTS, was purely in Japanese^[5]. She also hosts singing streams regularly known as "Singchaama".

She has also streamed herself cooking and usually cooks gyoza. She also makes ASMR and shitposts.^{[citation needed]}

On December 2019, as a result of the demonetization incident that surrounded several hololive VTubers at the time, including Haato, she created a secondary channel, though stream archives on the channel were later privatized at some point in 2020 for unknown reasons. After months of inactivity on the second channel, on November 24, 2021, the channel was repurposed for uploading YouTube Shorts videos.^{[citation needed]}

After Coco Kiryu's graduation, she began reacting to memes and shitposts from the official Hololive subreddit in her place, and would sometimes feature fellow E nglish-speaking VTubers in her reaction videos. So far, she has featured Kiara, IRyS and Ollie.^{[citation needed]}

She has a lot of similarities to Sara Hoshikawa, and they watch each other's streams, despite her being from Nijisanji, The two have collaborated as well.^{[citation needed]}

On March 3, 2021, she privatized several videos, before going on a hiatus for the sake of her mental health. She returned on the 30th of March, before taking another hiatus a week later on the 6th of April, not returning until the 26th of the same month.^{[citation needed]}

On June 12, 2021, she announced another indefinite hiatus but later returned.^[6]

On March 18, 2023, after hololive 4th fes. Our Bright Parade, she would go on another hiatus until her return on November 1, 2023.

A sassy kouhai. She is often prickly, however she manages to demand lots of attention from those with whom she has been getting along well. She loves red ribbons and heart shapes.

In February 2021, she has posted several videos implying that Haachama is a split personality of the "original" Akai Haato who is able to communicate with the latter and vice versa, originating from a common meme among her fans since she invented the nickname Haachama in 2020 due to a fact that around the same time she has started posting some bizarre content unconventional for a VTuber, sometimes including crude or dark humor.^{[citation needed]}

Channel names[]

The channel has changed names the most of all hololive members. It was originally named "Haato Channel 赤井はあと" during her introduction, but later on when she established her Haachama persona the channel was renamed "Haachama Ch. 赤井はあと", then in circa January 2021 the channel was renamed again to "Haachama Ch. はあちゃま", later in February 2021 during the "HAACHAMAxAkaihaato" story arc the channel was renamed "Akaihaato Ch. 赤井はあと" later in the same month it was changed to "HAACHAMA Ch. 赤井はあと". The "Akaihaato Ch. 赤井はあと" name briefly returned on early May 2021, then changed to "HAACHAMA Ch 赤井はあと" (without period) at some point in July 2021. As a result of these names changes, Haato's channel lost the verification mark.^{[citation needed]}
