Hasbro, Inc is an American toy company based in Rhode Island and is the owner of various toy and game brands, including, but not limited to, NERF, Transformers, Power Rangers, Beyblade, Furby, G.I Joe, Monopoly, My Little Pony, Baby Alive, Littlest Pet Shop, and Peppa Pig.
Overview[]
Hasbro was founded in Providence, Rhode Island, as Hassenfield Brothers in 1923, founded by Herman, Hillel, and Henry Hassenfield, originally producing textile remnants, and later pencil cases and school supplies. They were known as the Hassenfield Brothers until 1968, finally becoming Hasbro Brands in that year, and after another name change in 1984, they finally became "Hasbro. Inc" in 1985.
Hasbro acquired Milton Bradley Company in 1984, Coleco (and Cabbage Patch Kids) in 1988, Tonka, and its subsidiaries, Kenner Products and Parker Brothers, in 1991, Wizards of the Coast in 1999 and its license to Pokémon merchandising (therefore receiving the rights to the Pokémon Trading Card Game, until WotC lost them in 2003), and Entertainment One in 2019, including Death Row Records (acquired by eOne in 2008) until 2020.
Hasbro is partnered with Japanese toy company Takara Tomy, who allows them to license and distribute their toys (Pokémon, Beyblade, Transformers) in certain regions.
Hasbro runs many channels, creating multiple channels for each of their brands. Their first channels were created in 2006 for some of their brands, and their official channel was created on September 27, 2013. They make a variety of videos among all their channels, showcasing and/or promoting their toys.
