Autobiography[]

Hello! My name is Heath Haskins. Yes, I am 40 years old (at the time of this writing). I was born in 1981, in Rogersville, Missouri. I played baseball, was in boy scouts, did football, played the alto saxophone, and looovvveeed video games. I didn't realize it at the time, but I had actually started to learn programming when playing video games. The Game Genie for Nintendo (NES) was my first taste of programming.

By the age of 13, I got my first computer. I had started playing around with code and programming when I was 14. By the time I was 16, I had self taught myself Visual Basic, C++, and COBOL programming. I would later go on to learn many more languages.

When I was in high-school, I had started to slip behind on my grades, and the counselor spoke with my parents. They said I should take an IQ test, and be tested for ADHD. My parents had agreed. So I ended up taking a few test that seemed more like fun puzzles to me. After they were done, the counselor sat down with my mother, and I and went over the test. They found that I indeed had ADHD. I showed tremendous scores in certain areas, then significant gaps in others. They had me placed on Adderall, then Cylert. Cylert was later discontinued.

I finally made it through high school, and graduated. I didn't have any plans for college, and didn't do well enough in school for any scholarships. One day, a friend of mine stopped by my house and wanted to know if I would go with him to the Marine Corps recruiters to sign some final paper work he had to do. I said sure, and we both drove to Springfield. While we were in their office, a Staff Sargent sat me down, and asked about my future. There's not too much else to that story. I went in on Tuesday, signed up on Wednesday, went up to MEPS (medical eval) on Thursday, and shipped off to boot camp the next week in MCRD San Diego, California. Oh Raw!

After boot camp and Marine Corps Combat Training, I then traveled to Lakeland Airforce Base, Texas, where my MOS school was. I was trained to be a 5831 Military Police, Naval Correctional Specialist. While there, they asked us to fill out some paperwork, and pick what base's I would be interested in working on. So I picked 3 of the closes bases there were to home near Springfield, Missouri. Imagine my surprise when I found out I got orders to go to Okinawa, Japan.

I actually enjoyed my time overseas so much that I ended up extending my deployment for another year! While I was over in Japan, I picked up a 2nd MOS of 8531, Primary Marksman Instructor (PMI). I would teach classes of Marines, training them how to shoot the M16 A2 Service Rifle, and the M9 Beretta service pistol. I'm really good with rifles and guns.

After my 2 year tour in Okinawa, I flew back to Camp Pendleton, California. My roommate, and I would go out to Ocean side all the time, and skate, surf, or just hang out. One day while we were out, we had to go get our hair cut. We had just pulled up to the barber shop when the lady who worked there was closing and locking the door. After talking with us for a while, she offered to give us haircuts at her home. We accepted.

After getting hair cuts, and hanging out for a bit, the lady got a phone call from her room mates. Their car had broken down somewhere in Temecula. The lady would have to drive there to pick her roommates up, and it was a bit of a drive. I offered to go with her, and my roommate headed off back to base. We drove and talked for hours. When we had arrived, we ate with her roommates at Denny's, then headed back home. After dropping her roommates back off at their house, she drove me back to base and dropped me off. We kissed for the first time that night. I only got about an hour of sleep before having to run in formation the next day for PT. Her name is Elizabeth. I met up with Liz a day or so later, at the mall. I told her that I loved hanging out with her, but I had a girlfriend back home. It was kind of an on and off relationship, but I didn't feel comfortable with it. She was sad, but ok with just hanging out and being friends.

I had some leave time save up, and went on vacation home for the holidays to hang out with my mom. By this time, my mother and father had been divorced for 2 years. I enjoyed hanging out with her, and being able to just enjoy life. After my 10 days was up, I hugged my mom, and said, "six more months. I'll be back in just six more months."

Once I was back on base in Cali, I had 1 day back, then back to work. While I was on post, it was the middle of the night, and one of the other LCPL came to relieve me from post, so I could go talk to the Sgt who was on duty. When I entered his office, he had me take a seat, and apologized that he wasn't my normal Duty Sgt. He informed me that he had just received a call from the Red Cross, and that my mother had just passed away. I don't remember if I cried, or not. That moment is so blurry, I don't remember much. I had just seen my mother not 2 days earlier. The Sgt handed me paperwork, and had another Marine go with me back to the barracks so I could pack, and sleep before the morning, so I could get a flight back home. The Sgt instructed him to stay with me throughout the night, until morning.

The flight home, the visitation, the funeral, and the flight back were nothing but a blur. Beyond a blur. It was like a bad dream that I couldn't wake up from.

About 3 days after the funeral, I was back in California, sitting on my balcony. I had been drinking a few beers, and crying. I felt like taking my mind off the situation, and tried to get to the game Brick Breaker on my phone. But when I tried, I ended up landing on that ladies number. Elizabeth. I stared at it for awhile. I realized that the last time I had spoken to her, I told her I was heading out of town for vacation. She didn't know I had come back, that my mother passed, or anything. I decided to call her. She picked up, and I told her everything that had happened. She came over, picked me up, and we went out to each. We talked the entire time. I felt incredibly better.

About a week later, we were out with my roommate, and her best friend at Outback Steakhouse. Liz and I had stepped out to smoke a cigarette while we waited on our food, and she told me "You're an idiot." I asked her for a little more detail, and she went on to explain that I was still hanging on to a relationship with a girl that I didn't get to see for months on end, while she was standing right in front of me. Needless to say, that was the first day we started dating, and I broke it off with my previous girlfriend.

After my last six months in the Marines, it was time to head back home. Liz, now my girlfriend, decided to come home with me for a few days, and after words, we were going to drive her back to California. Then the plan was, I would come back, take care of the rest of my mothers affairs, then head back out to to be with her. While she was their, she saw the devastation my mothers death had on me. We did end up driving back to California, but instead of dropping her off, she quite her job, packed her house, and moved back home with me to Missouri. While we were out there, I asked her father for her hand in marriage. After we had got back home, I waited for the first day that lighting bugs appeared in the back yard. As we watched hundreds of little neon lights all around us, I bent down, and asked her to marry me. She said yes.

My mother had setup a life insurance policy, and it was enough for us to purchase a house together. I started working as a Correctional Officer for the Greene County Sheriffs Department as a Booking Specialist. Later on I would be moved into CO1 then CO3, as a full time Correctional Officer. During that time I would attend Ozark Technical Community College using my GI Bill, to get my first AA Degree in Computer Programming. We had our first child, my daughter Hope. After I got my degree, we had Liz go and get her first degree as well, using the Pell Grant. Once both of use had degrees, I tried to get in with another company in their IT department. They picked someone else. So, still working at GC Jail, I went for my second degree. I got an Associates of Applied Science in Computer Information Systems, and my wife got her 2nd degree as well. My Son was just born the 2nd time I applied for the IT position, and this time I got it. 5 years at Greene County, and I would finally be working in IT.

Since being at the company, I worked as Help Desk, then moved up to become the Application Development Analyst, where I get to create programs, and automations. Since then I have also become the RPA Developer, creating bots and automations to complete mundane task. It more fun then it is work, but that's just to me. What I do really does make a difference in the company. (But it's so fun, I don't feel like I'm working)

Around 2008, I had started making YouTube videos here and there, just on things that interested me. Programming, Hacking, Hypnosis, and other nerdy stuff. It wasn't until around 2014 that I noticed my children were getting more and more interested in YouTube videos about gamers. But at the time, it was hard for me to watch them finding YouTubers who would just curse and cuss and scream the entire time. I decided that I could make video game play videos for my kids. I started playing Minecraft, then eventually Roblox. I would let them watch EthanGamer, because he did not curse. Stampy was another one of their staples. I would watch what they did, then try my best to follow the same format when trying to do my videos.

I had hit 500 subs in 2016. One night while playing Lumber Tycoon 2, and hanging out with my friend Bloby890, he found out that I did YouTube videos. I was suppose to be recording a Minecraft episode, but was having too much fun in LT2. Bloby just suggested, "Why not just record this? Its what your doing, and what you enjoy." And the rest is history. This was the first time I had recorded a tutorial video on LT2 how to get Gold Wood fast. I had recorded other Roblox videos, some with my kids. But this was the first video that blew up.

Since then, it seemed like there were a ton of kids who needed help with LT2, and I was more the happy to start recording, and showing off tutorials. Especially when something new came to Lumber. I was there to cover the Chop Saws, Logic, and wires. My channel slowly became engulfed by Roblox, and more specifically, Lumber Tycoon 2.

The more I played lumber, and the more views that came in, I started to realize, my entire channel had become completely reliant on Lumber. If I wasn't recording something Lumber, then next to no one would watch. This cycle continued. My kids were growing up, and no longer interested in the Roblox videos I was creating, but it continued. I had found another area in Roblox I was interested in. Programming. I could develop games, and create amazing code. So I started showing tutorials on how to make things in Roblox Studio.

The Studio videos caught the attention of Adams Media. A division of Simon and Schuster. They reached out to me about writing a book about how to write code in Roblox. I went on to write the Advanced Roblox Coding Book, then later to re-write The Ultimate Roblox Book, and re-write my original work to bring everything up to date.

It has been just recently (2022) that I realized I was no longer happy making Roblox, Lumber Tycoon 2 videos. I had attempted many MANY other games, and nothing seemed to interest the fans. One night, while I was loading up my base inside Lumber Tycoon 2, I had finally hit a wall. Was I really going to sit there and make another lumber video? I couldn't. I watched my base spin for nearly 30mins, just thinking to myself, "Why am I doing this?" And with that, I recorded my last Lumber video, called "End Of An Era?" I wanted to leave the question mark on the end to show that it wasn't just about me ending the Lumber Videos, but moving forward into something else. It has been the worst, and best decision I have ever made.

I'm still making videos, but they are going to be videos I want to make. Not because I'm stuck. That's a good feeling. My channel will suffer. My subs will drop. But I am having the best time ever, playing new games, and seeing who was really sticking around because of me, and not because of Lumber.

Thanks for reading.

Career[]

Books[]

Heath has created one book and updated two books, The Advanced Roblox Coding Book: An Unofficial Guide[1], released in March of 2019, The Ultimate Roblox Book: An Unofficial Guide; Updated Edition[2], released in February of 2022, and The Advanced Roblox Coding Book: An Unofficial Guide; Updated Edition[3], which is to be released in May of 2022. All three of these books involved the platform Roblox, teaching them how to understand and use the engine, as well as write their very own code in the Lua programming language. All three of the books are published under Adams Media, a division of the known publisher, Simon & Schuster.

Controversy[]

Pride and Support Profile Pictures[]

Amidst the start of the Black Lives movement, Heath sent a message to his fanbase through his Discord server prohibiting fans from discussing, mentioning, or using a profile picture that contains BLM symbols, LGBTQ+ symbols, rainbows, or anything that can be related to a "political agenda"; while at the same time acclaiming he accepts everyone. This was in an attempt to stop fans from fighting inside his discord. His approach to keep a "family friendly" space received a lot of backlash from his community and from some of his Discord moderators. Throughout the conflict, Heath continuously defended his stance in claiming he would have to allow all forms of prides. Stating further that he would have to allow white supremacy and straight pride if he were to allow Black Lives Matters and LGBTQ+ prides respectively. In addition to these claims, he posted a copypasted Nazi symbol in attempt to prove his point. After further fallout, Heath made a statement allowing users to use profile pictures that are used in a way to show inclusion and acceptance, but still prohibits the use of any supremacy, or hate groups.

Woodmill Inc.[]

During the middle of July 2021, Heath was made aware of a game being developed by one of his Discord moderators. The game being created, Woodmill Inc, was a rework of the game Lumber Tycoon 2, and was designed to fix many of the issues Lumber Tycoon 2 was facing such as a lack of updates and a constant presence of exploiters in public servers. After posting a first impressions video on the game, he began pushing the developers to releasing the game to an early access release through a paywall. Once Woodmill Inc. was released into an early access, he began pushing his fanbase to play the game and was given a developer position thereafter. After a public alpha release, Heath began receiving warnings from trusted members of the Lumber Tycoon 2 community about Woodmill Inc's similarities to its original counterpart. However, he disregarded their claims, believing Woodmill Inc. used no copied materials, stating he will only trust the Lumber Tycoon 2 developer's words.

On 17 September 2021, the developer of Lumber Tycoon 2 made a response to a line[4] threads made on his findings from Woodmill Inc, concluding the game stole protected content from Lumber Tycoon 2. Heath disregarded the response and refused to make any comments related to response, and continued to tell his fanbase and a growing base that Woodmill Inc. used no stolen assets. After a DMCA takedown of Woodmill Inc. on 1 October 2021, Heath posted a video in response to the takedown[5], feeling betrayed that he trusted someone who lied to him to gain his support.
