Florian Himsl, better known online as Himsl Games and formerly Game Squid, is a video essay, gaming and let's play channel maintained by game developer Florian Himsl, co-creator of The Binding of Isaac, and main dev of Ball Frog. Florian is a hermit who lives in a flat in Austria, preferring to socialise online.

Florian also regularly collaborated with Mumkey Jones on the Is It Kino movie review podcast, where Florian shares his contrarian opinions on media, much to the annoyance of the audience and other co-hosts. Due to an argument, they no longer interact.

Content[]

The channel includes commentary and breakdown videos of the Rick and Morty series, animated comedy shorts, and videos reviewing and playing video games, as well as giving updates on his own video game development projects. Florian maintains a "binding of Issac Explained" series, breaking down and giving tips on his hit video game.

He uploads a series of comedy animations featuring other creators, including jokes about Donald Trump, Area 51, and other topics of his interest.

He also has a mildly hyperbolic "literally unplayable" series, where he highlights games and more recently moves that he disliked.

He also has a large number of let's play series that span hundreds of episodes, but that style of content seems to mostly be in the past, with his video essay-style content being more common in recent years.

Trivia[]

  • He refuses to talk to the internet celebrity Eggy after a falling out on a podcast.
  • He enjoys sweetcorn on his pizza.
  • He is generally accepting of trans people and the LGBT community, although has indicated this does not extend to non-binary people.[citation needed]
