Carlos Eiene (born: November 10, 1997), better known online as insaneintherainmusic, is a retired American YouTuber and multi-instrumentalist known for creating jazz arrangements of video game songs, primarily of Nintendo games such as Pokémon.
Personal life
Eiene was born in Bellevue, Washington to parents of Filipino descent. Eiene was introduced to music at the age of 7 when a piano was brought into his house. With that, he would teach himself to read sheet music by using books that came with the piano.
In the following years, he learned to play the Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone, settling with the Tenor Sax as his instrument of choice. He also played in jazz festivals throughout his life before beginning his YouTube channel in 2012. He graduated from the Berklee College of Music in 2020.
In early 2022, he announced his retirement from posting video game covers to his channel in favor of original compositions and becoming a video game composer. In late 2022, in anticipation of his first original album, he began posting live performance videos on Youtube.
In 2025, on the day of the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Eiene revealed on his YouTube channel that he was an official arranger for the game's soundtrack.
Style
Insaneintherain covered music from a large variety of video games, most of which he has played. He used to take requests from a Google Form or from comments.
His style is often closer to jazz fusion than pure jazz, and he is known for playing many of the instruments in his videos by himself.
He has also published or contributed to multiple albums. In 2014, he released his first album, Back to Your Littleroots, based on the Pokemon series. In 2015, he released Weebop, which was based on various games and anime series. In 2016, he released Live At Grillby's, which was based on the game Undertale. That same year, he released Precipitation, which he recorded as part of a jazz quartet, and Aloha that Jazz, an album dedicated to Pokemon: Sun and Moon. In September 2019, he began the Year of Sinnoh, a year which he dedicated to his favorite video game soundtrack, Pokemon: Diamond and Pearl. This culminated in the release of the album Sinnohvation. In October 2022, his first original album, Insane In The Rain, will release.
