Isaac[1] (born: October 15, 2000 (2000-10-15) [age 25]),[2] better known online as isaacwhy, is an American[1]YouTuber best known for his videos recorded on Discord with his friends.
He is one of the key members of a group of content creators simply known as The Group, and co-hosts its corresponding podcast, along with Softwilly, LarryCroft, BigT, and Grunk. Since 2022, he has resided in Austin, Texas with three of the aforementioned.[3]
Isaac's content mainly consists of videos recorded on the messaging and voice chatting app Discord, where he engages in shenanigans with his friends.
Discord's You Laugh You Lose[]
One of the longest-running and most popular arrays of videos on Isaac's channel is his "You Laugh You Lose" (YLYL) series on Discord. The first YLYL video was uploaded in March 2020.[4] There have since been ten videos in this series, with the most recent in October 2024. The general objective is for the hosts to avoid laughing, while members of their Discord server are brought up to try to make them do so. If they do laugh, there is often a punishment put in place, which has changed throughout the series.[5][6]
Last to Leave Voice Chat[]
From 2020 to 2025, Isaac had a yearly tradition on his channel known as "Last to Leave Voice Chat" (LTLVC). A new installment was usually uploaded every December, close to Christmas day. In these videos, he gathers a certain amount of his friends in a Discord call with the objective to be the last person to leave said call in order to win a prize. In the 2020 edition, the prize was $1,000.[7] In the 2021 edition, it was ramped up to $10,000.[8] In the 2022 edition, it was again increased to $25,000.[9] In the 2023 edition, it was raised to $50,000.[10] The final edition (with a prize of $100,000), recorded in 2024, was released after several delays in two parts, which premiered on July 5 and July 11, 2025, respectively.[11][12]
These videos were major successes, and the 2022 video is the most viewed video on Isaac's channel as of 2024.[13]
Kaiheila[]
In April 2021, Isaac and his friends discovered a Discord-like Chinese website called Kaiheila, that is popular within China due to the country's large firewall. Isaac decided to make a first video in which he begins to explore Kaiheila.[14] He met a Chinese user that spoke fluent English, in which he was able to explain how Kaiheila works and they ended up becoming friends on the platform. Following the release of the first video, the user commented and summarized what Kaiheila is and asked Isaac's audience not to harass anybody within the platform.[15]
A couple of months went by and Isaac decided to record a second video where him and his friends went on the app again.[16] However, they put a disclaimer in the start of the video, saying not to harass anyone who appears in the video. At one point in the video, a racist Chinese meme appeared, causing Isaac to receive some backlash. He then deleted the video, censored it and re-uploaded the video, saying that he wasn't aware that it was racist until someone told him.[17][18]
History[]
Isaac claims in his channel description to have been doing YouTube since August 2019,[1] though he has numerous videos that have been uploaded before then. Isaac created his channel on June 10, 2016, and his first currently public video was uploaded on September 17, 2018.[19]
The early videos on Isaac's channel mainly consisted of memes and edits.[19][20] Similar to what his friend Softwilly had been doing, he would begin to make Discord meme videos in March 2019.[21][22] By June, he began to branch into some gaming videos,[23] which was soon followed by the "voice chat shenanigans in Discord" format he is now known for.[24][25]
Isaac's channel would grow immensely in the following years, reaching 1 million subscribers by the end of 2021.[26] In March 2022, he, along with other members of The Group, started a podcast, known as The Group Chat.[27] As of November 2022, Isaac remains active on YouTube.
Personal life[]
Isaac was born on October 15, 2000, and grew up in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania.[28] He was raised in a Christian family, and has a brother.[29][30] In the summer of 2022, he, Softwilly, LarryCroft, and BigT all moved together to Austin, Texas.[31] Yumi moved in with them as well that fall.[32]
Appearance[]
On April 1, 2020, Isaac posted a fake face reveal video for April Fools Day. The person in the video was actually Chills, who recorded the short bit posing as Isaac.[33]
On October 14, 2022, Isaac's face was accidentally leaked when Softwilly uploaded his 1 million subscriber special, a real-life video containing a short segment in which Isaac's face was not blurred. Fans quickly began to notice the error as the video was premiering, and Nick promptly took it down. The event caused havoc in The Group's Discord server, where moderators were quick to crack down on anyone possessing screenshots of Isaac's face, threatening permanent bans for anyone who posted them. The video was reuploaded a few hours later, with the segment now edited properly.[34]
