Rolf Jacob Sartorius (born: October 2, 2002) is an American singer and internet personality who rose to fame via social media from posting lip-syncing videos from Musical.ly.
Early Life
Jacob was born in Oklahoma. Due to his original parents not being able to take care of him, he was adopted in Virginia in a city called Reston by his current parents.
He began acting in musicals at age 7. In 2014, he uploaded his first video on Vine when he was 11 years old. His short 6-second video was a message about anti-bullying and went viral thus beginning his fame on social media. He joined Musical.ly that year and his lip-syncing videos on the app became very popular and led him to become one of the app's top stars with over 14,000,000 followers.
Sweatshirt
This song was Jacob's first single and was released on May 3, 2016. It has peaked at #90 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #81 on the Canadian Hot 100. The video was not well received by critics and was panned having more dislikes than likes similar to Justin Bieber's song Baby back in February 2010. Its lyrical content was him offering a girlfriend his sweatshirt to wear. His second single "Hit or Miss" has more views making it the most viewed video on his YouTube channel. This video however was the start of his continuing fame on YouTube.
