Jarvis is trying his best

―Jarvis' former intro.

Jarvis Allen Johnson[1] (born: May 5, 1992 (1992-05-05) [age 32]),[2] formerly known as VSympathyV,[3] is an American YouTuber and former engineering manager at Patreon.

Content[]

Jarvis uploads comedy/entertainment videos, tech videos about his software engineering career and rants of channels that he doesn't like, including 5-Minute Crafts, Troom Troom, BRIGHT SIDE and animated storytime channels, like Share My Story and ACTUALLY HAPPENED. Sometimes, he uses these "Life Hacks" as a video idea, making videos trying to do said "Hacks".

He even created a channel called "THEY ACTUALLY ANIMATED MY STORY" as a satirical parody channel mocking the aforementioned storytime channels by creating exaggerated, fake stories. He has reviewed terrible covid romance novels on his second channel.[4]

Dhar Mann content[]

Jarvis' first Dhar Mann reaction video was Mom ACCUSES Her Son's Black Friend Of Stealing, INSTANTLY REGRETS IT! | Dhar Mann, where he criticized the video for being "cringy," having "unrealistic dialogue" and its "bad morals." After the video, the actress who played the mom, Katherine Norland, messaged him in defense of Dhar Mann, claiming that the video was "attempting to convey a good message."[5]

In Winter 2021, Jarvis developed a game known as "Dhar Mann bingo" during a Twitch livestream. He would usually react to reality shows and "cringe" content, but noticed that it was only in Dhar Mann's videos that many things would reoccur frequently. He would often pick a random video, publicize bingo cards, and play with his chat, and if they won he would gift them a sub. Other YouTubers like Joinen also joined the trend.

Former Dhar Mann actress Mair Mulroney reacted positively to Jarvis's video Huge Dhar Mann Allegations and agreed with his takes on Dhar himself. In the video description she thanked him for bringing attention to the #ProtestDharMann campaign.[6] Actor Chas Laughlin also thanked him for making the video.[7]

Collaborations[]

Jarvis usually collaborated with Mayuko in his old videos but has also collaborated with Kurtis Conner and CharlieMarlieTV. He has appeared in an episode of Zach Kornfeld's podcast.[8]

While reacting to the Whatever podcast, Jarvis got into contact with Farha Khalidi, one of the guests, to ask why she appeared on it despite the negative attitude the host, Bryan, held towards women.[9]

He hosts a podcast with Jordan Adika called Sad Boyz.

Personal life[]

Jarvis founded his YouTube channel on October 12, 2006. He was taught at Eastside High School in Gainesville, Florida between 2006 and 2010, before graduating with an international baccalaureate diploma and then moving on to the Georgia Institute of Technology, which he studied at between 2010 and 2014, and graduated with a bachelor of science high honers degree in computer science.[10][11]

Jarvis has worked as a student assistant at the Georgia Institute of Technology, a teaching assistant at the Georgia Institute of Technology, a software developer intern at Radiant Systems, an engineering practicum intern at Google, a software engineer intern at Yelp, a software engineer at Yelp, a senior software engineer at Patreon, and an engineering manager at Patreon.[11]

Between August 23 and 25, 2018, Jarvis managed to go from 90,000 subscribers to 200,000. This was due to the fact that a bigger YouTuber, Cody Ko, uploaded a video about 5-Minute Crafts[12]. Cody indirectly helped Jarvis gain more recognition, due to the fact that Jarvis had uploaded a video about the same channel.

Jarvis is half African-American.

Exhibition bout[]

Jarvis Johnson vs. Arin Hanson[]

On 24 January, 2023, it was announced that Johnson will face American YouTuber Arin Hanson of GameGrumps on Creator Clash 2: Influencers Will Pay on April 15, 2023 at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.[13] On the night of the event, Johnson was defeated by Hanson via 2nd round.[14]

Other channels[]

Jarvis Johnson! GOLD is Jarvis' second channel where he uploads shorter form content, mostly commentary videos often in collaboration with other Youtubers. This channel was established to host additional video material that didn't make it into main channel videos, and other less scripted and less well produced videos.[15][16]

Awards[]

  • Jarvis was nominated for the 2020 tenth annual Streamy Awards in the Commentary category. The Streamy Awards took place on December 13, 2020.
