Jason Unruhe (born: September 7, 1981 (1981-09-07) [age 42]), formerly known online as MaoistRebelNews2, is a Maoist-Third Worldist YouTuber, author, former security guard, journalist, and political commentator. His channel mainly features Rebel News and is a source of Marxist perspective on news. His channel is a self-proclaimed news source of anti-capitalist opinion for the last 10 years on international politics, domestic politics, war and economics.

Originally from Toronto, Ontario he is currently living in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Jason has established over 41,000 subscribers and over 30 million video views.

Maoism[]

He subscribes to the political ideology of Maoism-Third Worldism, an unofficial name for what is theorized as the fourth stage in the evolution of Marxist theory. There is no official title, but Maoism-Third Worldism is the most common one.

Controversy[]

In the past, Unruhe has received criticism for certain political views and actions on social media. For example, back in September 2018, he received backlash on Twitter for implicitly threatening former U.S. President Donald Trump with violence, holding a baseball bat with barbed wire around it.[1] Around a year later in July 2019, just after the Kyoto Animation arson attack in Japan, he made a tweet claiming that there were double standards regarding the grieving of the animators who died in the fire. He claimed that no one is sad about the thousands of suicide in Japan and were only sad when the animators died.[2]

Other controversies include allegations of transphobia from other YouTubers and a falling out he's had with other Marxist-Leninists over their opinions of J. Sakai's "Settlers" and how to handle reparations to Native Americans in regards to past injustices.

Trivia[]

  • He is a proud supporter of the DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea).
  • He has written for Young Pioneer Tours, the DPRK Embassy of Norway, and is a contributor to PressTV.
  • He is the author of several books.
