JianHao Tan (born: June 14, 1993 (1993-06-14)) is a Singaporean YouTuber, actor and radio personality who is widely popular in Asia. In his YouTube videos, he pokes fun at locals, empathizes with students, and delivers relationship advice, best known for his class T1T5 videos and "[blank] VS [blank]" series.

He refers to his audience as HaoNation.

Background

JianHao was born in Singapore, Due to his father's occupation in foreign service, JianHao spent most of his childhood and teenage years overseas. He soon left the country at 8 years old to study in Cambodia for six years, then later Vietnam for five years. After completing his studies in Vietnam, JianHao returned to Singapore to fulfil his national service requirements. JianHao received most of his formative education in Cambodia and Vietnam.

He completed Primary 1 in Singapore at Radin Mas Primary School where he was reportedly the top student. He was then a student at the International School of Phnom Penh [Cambodia] and later enrolled in the United Nations International School of Hanoi [Vietnam]. He graduated from the United Nations International School of Hanoi in 2011.

He has a sister, Kayley Tan and has and a best friend named Ridhwan Azman, who also own their own YouTube channels.

He studied in the United Nations International School of Hanoi and decided to pursue a career on YouTube after serving two years of national (compulsory) service in the army.

JianHao started a YouTube channel called 'Teenageguruz' with two of his schoolmates in United Nations International School of Hanoi, Nguyen Hoang Anh and Le Tuan Anh. They wanted to use YouTube as a platform to give practical advice for the younger students in their school. After completing their studies, Nguyen Hoang Anh and Le Tuan Anh decided to further their studies in different countries. Jianhao postponed his studies and continued to develop the YouTube channel after he completed National Service in Singapore.

In July 2014, JianHao officially registered his media company under the name 'The JianHao Tan Co.' which he later changed to 'Titan Digital Media Pte Ltd'. The media company provides a range of marketing services from creating advertorial content on social media platforms to recruiting talents for campaigns. The company has worked with notable brands like Apple, Disney and Air Asia. As of 2 June 2020, Titan Digital Media has a combined reach of over six million subscribers across its YouTube channels and over four million followers on Instagram.

The JianHao brand has also expanded to include the following YouTube channels:

• LADIES FIRST
• THE IN CENTRAL
• PLAYTIME TV

These channels cover gaming, female-centric content, newsworthy incidents and kid-friendly content respectively. These channels and their talents are managed by Titan Digital Media, JianHao's media company.

He then started a relationship with Debbie Soon, who he later married in 2019. At the same year before their marriage, they announced that they are having a baby, who Debbie eventually gave birth to by the name of Starley, not long after they got married.

Controversy

Fall-out with Ridhwan Azman

On 2 December 2015, Ridhwan left JianHao's company, saying that "he deserved better". According to Ridhwan’s blog entry, he wanted to leave the company because he was not earning much. He claimed that:

“	... when I was working as a waiter, I can earn more, and see my mom, but not when I was with THEJIANHAOTANCO.	”

Following these allegations, JianHao uploaded a screenshot of his conversation with Ridhwan on his Instagram. In his caption, JianHao called out Ridhwan for playing a "pity game". The post also provided a detailed rebuttal against every accusation that Ridhwan made against JianHao. On 8 October 2017, JianHao uploaded a video titled 'What Really Happened Between Us' in which he and Ridhwan addressed their fall-out. They also announced that Ridhwan would be returning to Titan Digital Media as a part of CrayEight Studios.

Trivia

• He is currently married to Debbie Soon. They met at a pet store when he brought Buncha for grooming.
  • He previously dated fellow YouTuber Naomi Neo, but they broke up in 2015 due to work and personal reasons. However, they remain good friends.
• He owns a social media advertising company which also specializes in video production, named Titan Digital Media company.
• He is currently the most subscribed channel in Singapore.
