Sam Okyere[]
On January 30, 2023, Jubilee uploaded the video What Is It Like To Be Black In South Korea? | SPECTRUM: Being Black In…Asia. One of the people interviewed was Ghanian-Korean celebrity Sam Okyere.[1] In the video, Sam spoke about his experiences with racism and how living as a black man in Korea was like. He specifically spoke about an incident where Korean schoolchildren wore blackface in public while cosplaying as Ghanian pallbearers. The video received a negative reaction from many South Korean netizens, who claimed that Sam wasn't disliked due to his race, but due to his actions. A commenter under the video stated 'Sam posted a photo of himself with a female announcer on Instagram. One user wrote "Once you go black you never go back." to which Sam replied "PREACH!". The female announcer was married and had two sons. Koreans took this as an insult to the announcer and her family, and were outraged by Sam's duality, which was different from the stance he had previously taken on racial prejudices.', referring to an incident in 2020 when Sam had made sexual comments towards actress Park Eun-hye, and deactivated his Instagram afterwards.[2][3][4] The video was mass disliked, with a ratio of 38K Dislikes to 20K Likes.
Speculation on Moonbin's Death[]
On September 9, 2023, Jubilee uploaded an Odd One Out episode on 6 K-pop Fans vs 1 Secret Hater.[5] After the mole was revealed, she explained why she dislikes K-pop. At that moment, she speculated on the death of Moonbin. This angered K-pop fans who asked Jubilee to delete or re-upload the video without the speculation, out of respect for his family.[6] The video is still there and unedited, however.
