Controversies[]

Twitch Bans[]

On December 17, 2020, Minx was banned from Twitch for breaking the platform’s new anti-harassment terms of service, Minx was banned for seven days for using words that Twitch has deemed to be “hateful slurs” – it’s believed that this refers to her use of the words “simp,” “incel,” and “virgin,” which Twitch now deems inappropriate when used as insults. She was able to come back on December 24.[21]

On February 7, 2022, Minx was banned from Twitch saying a "derogatory slur" that was determined to be the word "c*****r." JustaMinx uploaded a YouTube video addressing the ban, explaining that she was in the middle of a workout and brainstorming content creation ideas when she found out about it. JustaMinx's Twitch ban lasted seven days, so she was able to resume streaming on February 14.[22]

On February 26, 2023, Minx when live on Twitch, while she was drunk and dropped a bottle on the floor. Later on March 1, she was temporarily banned by Twitch for an unexplained reason; though it was widely believed to have been due to getting drunk on stream.[23]

Hot Tub Party Drama/Feud with Jake Lucky News[]

On January 29, 2022, Minx decided to address a tweet by Jake Lucky News that included a clip of her hot tub stream the previous day. It hit out Twitch’s Nudity & Sexual Content policies and hinted at the website’s inconsistencies; Jake’s tweet said, “When I see these videos I remember C9 Mang0 getting banned for air humping an Ahri statue and I remember that Twitch has no clue what to ban for when it comes to "sexual" content anymore."[24]

Minx gave a bit of backstory on the day of the broadcast, stating that all of her plans "were messed up" as this was just after she got stuck in an elevator as part of a prank. "We had just gotten trapped in an elevator for an hour so all our plans were messed up, I was still shaken up, I was still all over the place so I was just like ‘alright, let’s just go into the hot tub straight away.’" Minx then proceeded to show various clips that performed the same actions as the ones in the original clip, wanting to point out the lack of differences between the two.[25]

Minx then addressed Jake, "First of all I’m getting a lot of sexism from this fucking cunt, there was no issue when this happened three different times on a man’s stream with actual fucking views. Maybe it’s because I’m a dying streamer or it’s a woman that is an issue."[26]

On January 30, Jake uploaded a video in which he revealed that Minx accused him of being a "sexist cunt" and he doesn't expect Minx to apologize to him for her false accusations against him, clarifying that he would call out any other streamer for violating Twitch's Terms of Service, regardless of thier gender. Jake also claimed that Minx should not "jump the gun" on him.[27]

Blackmailing Allegations[]

In September 2022, Minx was accused of blackmailing streamers with fellow streamer Toxxxicsupport calling her out. Toxxxic shared her story sharing that she attended a party which was hosted by Minx and several of her friends at the 2018 Twitchcon convention in a recent Twitlonger. Toxxxic said she was playing a drinking game alongside a friend where every time someone "messed up," said person had to drink a "red solo cup of vodka" or take off a piece of clothing. Toxxxic continued, saying the situation became uncomfortable very quickly as her friend had gotten "drunk fast" while she was standing in front of "13 guys" in her underwear who began pressuring her to take off the rest of her clothes. She then dressed herself and her friend, requested a ride-share, and left the party without any acknowledgment from the rest of the party.

Toxxxic said she reached out to Minx the next day, who was allegedly in bed for most of the party. Toxxxic said Minx was initially supportive, going so far as to join her at a Twitch Partner lounge to speak about her experience with several friends. However, Minx allegedly texted Toxxxic several hours after this telling her she wasn't welcome back for any more parties and that if Toxxxic shared her experience, Minx would share information Toxxxic shared with her in confidence.

Since the accusations, Minx has remained silent on the accusations across Twitch and her social media accounts.[28]

Airbnb Ban[]

On November 3, 2022, Minx claimed that the Airbnb she was staying in was broken into by two men purportedly living beneath the property. During this time, Minx’s two cats also went missing and hid underneath the home, with the streamer and local law enforcement then discovering a cache of illicit materials that the intruders had purportedly stored there.

Minx claimed that the intruders showed back up to the Airbnb after the invasion and threatened her, and were allegedly “hacking IP addresses” using the home’s Wi-Fi connection. She has since found both of her cats (who are safe and healthy). Minx claims that she’s now looking for another place to live in the interim. However, it was hard for her to find one given that AirBnB has seemingly banned her account. Minx made this claim in a tweet on November 10, saying that the service has also prevented her from booking anywhere within a 300 kilometer radius.[29]

Finding a new place and moving again has been stressful, especially with not being able to get a refund on the current house I’m in and Airbnb banning my account and not letting me book anywhere in a 300 km radius. Grateful for my friends helping me look and taking in my kitties.

―Minx tweet to Airbnb[30]

Minx claims that she was kicked out of the OpTic team house and given 24 hours to vacate the premises.[31]

Streamer Awards Drama/Feud with QTCinderella[]

The Streamer Awards afterparty ended up being shut down after Minx allegedly became drunk and disorderly and had to be escorted off the premises by security. According to streamer QTCinderella and other streamers, Minx attempted to toss attendees into a pool at the venue, as well as a few outdoor gas heaters. Sykkuno, who was at the party, stated he and CDawgVA were trying to prevent Minx from jumping in the pool and she didn't attempt to throw him in the pool nor was he in any danger.[32] As told by QT, Minx allegedly went limp once security arrived as a “tactical” means of making removing her more difficult.[33]

Minx, however, claims she was pushed and suffered a seizure. She and QTCinderella had a spat over Twitter, where QT notably told the streamer to “go fuck yourself” before providing Discord DMs where Minx “pinky swore” not to drink at the event. Minx later went live on Kick after publishing a tweet that read, “Dumb bitch.” During her broadcast, she reiterated that she suffered a seizure and said she’s traveling back home to Ireland to receive treatment for her epilepsy. QT, however, didn’t believe Minx had a seizure and commented under a photo that Minx posted of herself at a hospital: ” You’re just lying. This picture is from you getting liquids at the ER.”

On March 14, QT explained that she didn’t keep the ordeal under wraps as she’s “tried everything” to get Minx help with an apparent alcohol dependency. “I can’t tell you how many tears I have cried over losing someone who was my best friend to this,” she said. “Genuinely. Over the past year, you can’t look at her in the face — there’s not the same person there. She’s been lost and gone. I have tried everything. I mean everything. I got together a group for an intervention, and then got the rehab, got family involved. I’ve tried f*cking everything. She doesn’t want the help. I’ve tried handling it privately. It hasn’t done anything, so I am just hoping that maybe all of this will finally make her realize she needs to get help and she can’t keep using excuses.”[34]

Minx has offered to reimburse QTCinderella for the cost of the canceled afterparty, and says she has been blocked by QT.[35] On March 18, QT apologized and acknowledged that it was inappropriate to publicize Minx's personal struggles. On March 23, Minx acknowledged her borderline alcoholism and assured her fans that she is taking steps toward a healthier lifestyle. She stated that she needs to recognize when to stop drinking at social events and described her parents' concerns after the recent incident in Los Angeles.[36] Minx also mentioned that she is taking precautions and undergoing medical examinations after suffering from an alcohol-induced seizure. Finally, Minx asked people to stop making assumptions about her health and physical capabilities, stating that she will listen to the advice of her doctor rather than online opinions. Additionally, reports surfaced that QT suffered a loss of approximately $50,000 due to the controversy. In a gesture of accountability, Minx has offered to reimburse QT for the cost of the canceled after-party.[37]
