Kanata Amane (born: April 22, 2002) is a Japanese former VTuber associated with Hololive. She is part of its fourth generation, alongside Coco Kiryu, Watame Tsunomaki, Luna Himemori and Towa Tokoyami.
Content[]
Debuting on December 27, 2019, Kanata plays games, streams, livechats and illustrates. In her debut stream she demonstrated her vocal abilities by singing Japanese sea shanties, specifically, Sōran Bushi, with the backing music being entirely composed of her singing A-cappella. A remix of Sōran Bushi served as her background music.
On the January 18 she covered her first song[1]. Three months later, she covered her next song[2], which became her most viewed video, earning praise from both fans and several fellow VTubers. She has a notably wide vocal range, and can even impersonate others. Other songs she has covered include Hatsune Miku's levan pokka[3] and when she sings karaoke, she covers various songs from anime, in some cases holding anime-only singing streams[4]. On 19 August 2021 she released her first original song "Tokusya-Seizon Wonder-la-der!!".
The first game she ever played on stream was Tetris[5], and she has also played Splatoon 2, 7 Days to Die, Ib, ARK, PAON, Getting Over It, World of Warships, Mother Simulator, Danganronpa, Minecraft, Molly Online, Undertale, Miitopia, APEX Legends, Dark Deception, Papers, please, Grand Theft Auto, Outlast, Fall Guys and Monster Hunter Rise. She is also notably good at memory games, and scored 20 points on Yuzuki Choco's quiz.
She tested positive for Covid-19 in February 2022.
Collaborations[]
Her earliest streams often featured her genmates, Suisei, and Hololive Fantasy, though her first solo collaboration was playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with Watame. Kanata has cited Coco Kiryu as her closest friend. Whenever she uploads shitposts against a green screen, it will usually feature her. She lives in the same house as Coco, and even after she announced her departure from Hololive, Kanata clarified that they would still live together.
Kanata and Ui-mama have played Super Bunny Man[6], and she also played Kirby Super Star with Korone[7]. She also played Among Us with Mikoto, Mel, Anya, Suisei, Nene, Shiina, Furen and Kana[8].
In Minecraft, she was recruited by Moona as an employee for Pekora's construction form, though later she left and formed her own company. She has notably featured Suisei in a lot of Minecraft streams as well. In one her Animal Crossing: New Horizons stream, Kanata invited Suisei to her island. However, when she tried to sell T-shirts, Suisei ended up horrified and exited as soon as she saw them.[9]
Kanata has featured Towa in her music covers. The two have played Getting Over It, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Clubhouse 51 Games together [10][11][12].
Kanata appeared in episode 24 of HoloTalk.[13]
Retirement[]
On December 2, 2025, it was announced that Kanata would be leaving Hololive, citing excessive workload, lack of motivation, and wanting to return to a normal job outside of the entertainment industry as the reason.

Her illustrator is oshio and 3D rigging is done by Yatsurugi. She shares her illustrator with Kirame Sorahoshi.

An angel from the Celestial Academy. She is now studying how to heal people. To hide her shyness, she pretends to be cool.[14]

- The yellow arm-band on her school uniform reads "Student Council" in Japanese, hinting that she is active in extracurricular activities at Heaven Academy, however her specialty is in curing/healing.

The Kyocera Dome Osaka stadium, on 13 August 2021, scheduled a collaboration between 12 Hololive idols including Kanata, who were to represent the SoftBank HAWKS and collaborate with six professional Japanese baseball teams from the Pacific League, two hololive members per team. They dubbed this day "Hololive day" and released exclusive merchandise[15].
On September 9 2021, hololive's Twitter account announced a sponsored stream for the game Deep Insanity ASYLUM, which was presented by Towa and Kanata. Both sang the games' song "Madoromi", and on 14 October, 2021, the official music video of the song was later released on hololive's Japanese channel.

In-jokes/memes[]
- Due to the fact that she used PowerPoint in her debut stream, she has been nicknamed PP Tenshi.
- Despite her below average size, she has a grip strength of 50 kg, something her doctors are unable to discern the reason/cause of. According to Coco, who lives with her, Kanata has broken jars easily, and also wrecked her own peripherals. Kanata attributed this to a mix of her own natural power and having to work jobs where she was required to do a lot of heavy lifting. Her strength has earned her the nickname "Gorilla".
- Kanata and Coco being girlfriends, since her own mother used to think Kanata was gay and that Coco was her girlfriend.
- Though Kanata has not stated what her sexuality is, she has admitted that she likes touching big breasts and describes her relationship with Coco as like "an old married couple". Not only that, after witnessing a Hololive staff member wearing a wedding ring, she asked Coco for matching friendship rings, which she obliged to.
- She has also admitted to finding Marine's thumbnails "hot".[16]
- IRyS being the child of Towa and Kanata, since she is half demon and half angel.
- Some fans have also joked that because of Kanata "cheating" on Coco with Towa, its why Coco left Hololive. However since some fans see Towa as an angel, another joke is that IRyS is the child of Towa and someone else like Choco, Laplus and Ayame.
- IRyS' lack of grip strength makes some think that she can't be the child of Kanata.
- Since she has a wide vocal range, there's a joke that everyone in Hololive has been fired and Kanata voices them all, despite Kanata having a tendency to slip up when being impersonating others.
- Most Hololive members got blue axoltols in Minecraft rather quickly (despite them being rare). Kanata, on the other hand, only got one after 3200 attempts. It's become a sore spot for her, but Heimin found it hilarious and love to bring it up in her Minecraft streams. Kanata was so desperate for axoltols that she set up a black market with absurd prices for one.
- This fanmade video[17] led to many edits of Kanata and Coco being replaced by others.
- She can understand English, although it is limited. She has also held English-only streams. As her English started to get better, some fans theorized that Coco is the one doing her translating for her, birthing a joke that Kanata uses the app "DeepC" (a pun on the app "DeepL").
- Her nicknames include Kanatan, PP Tenshi, Kabaya and Gorilla. Coco calls her "Kana-Gorilla".
Personal life[]
Kanata mentions growing up poor, and thinks that the the Japanese equivalent to $5 is wealthy. She was surprised to hear how her peers did not struggle with poverty in their childhoods, as she herself had grown up thinking that it was normal to eat grass out of severe hunger as a child.[18]

- Her favorite anime are series Pop Team Epic, Hunter × Hunter and especially Detective Conan, and one of her earliest videos has a thumbnail of her drawn in the style of a Pop Team Epic character.
- Kanata is almost deaf in one of her ears. This is possibly due to her suffering from Meniere's Disease, but she knew this when she was signing up for Hololive and it didn't bother her.
- She loves baseball and attends games of it with Korone.
- Kanata refers to her mother as "Sayuri" during streaming because in her opinion, she resembles Japanese actress Sayuri Yoshinaga[22]. She also does this to avoid confusion with her illustrator, commonly referred to as Oshio-mama.
- Lamy and Kanata are both huge fans of Yui "Gakki" Aragami. When Kanata learned that she was getting engaged to her co-star, she had a meltdown and needed to take a break. She is also a huge Sora fangirl and acted very shy upon meeting her.
- She likes to prank people by claiming she has a girlfriend, such as telling Laplus she had one (whilst pretending to be drunk), and also introduced Aqua as her girlfriend to Coco. Due to her vocal range, she often impersonates her fellow idols for laughs.
