Dayvon Daquan Bennett † (August 9, 1994 – November 6, 2020 [aged 26]), better known professionally as King Von, was an American musician, rapper, and songwriter, who performed the genres of rap, hip hop, trap, and drill. During his career, from 2018 to 2020, he released a total of one studio album, which is Welcome to O'Block, (2020), and two mixtapes, including Grandson, Vol. 1, (2019), and Levon James, (2020).
He was shot and killed in Atlanta, Georgia by Quando Rondo's artist, Lul Timm.
Death[]
On November 6, 2020, at around 2:15 am in an Atlanta nightclub, King Von was involved in an altercation with rapper Quando Rondo. The dispute quickly escalated into gunfire. He was subsequently transported to a hospital in critical condition and died there later that day; he was 26 years old. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation reported that three people were killed. Four people were wounded; one of them was placed in police custody for the murder of King Von while being treated for a gunshot wound. The suspect was identified as Timothy Leeks, known as Lul Timm, aged 22. On November 15, 2020, King Von was buried in his hometown of Chicago.
After his passing, his friend Lil Durk got into multiple altercations with Quando Rondo and NBA Youngboy, with the former repeatedly dissing Von after his death. Lul Timm would be eventually cleared of all charges.
Many people kept posting comments on Durk's social media accounts asking for him to retaliate for Von, saying "Slide for Von". Quando's SUV would be shot at a few years later, resulting in one of his friends passing away, which Durk mocked on a diss track.
Controversy[]
Serial Killings[]
Von was heavily involved in gang activity from his teenage years up until his 20s. In 2014, Von murdered Gakirah Barnes, who was a 17 year old gunman who worked for the Gangster Disciples.[1] On July 24, 2014, Von was arrested for a shooting in May 2014 in Englewood, Chicago, resulting in the killing of Malcolm Stuckey and two other men getting injured. Von was charged with first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder. However Von was found not guilty in December 2017.[2]
In May 2019, Von and Lil Durk were arrested for a shooting in Atlanta. Von and Durk appeared before a judge in a Fulton County court. Prosecutors claimed that the two rappers robbed and killed Alexander Witherspoon on February 5, 2019. After weeks in jail, Durk was released on a $250,000 bond,[3] while Von was released on a $300,000 bond.[4] The charges against Durk were dropped in October 2022.[5]
In January 2023, after Von died, the FBI declassified a number of documents, which showed that Von placed a $50,000 assasination on FBG Duck before raising the price to $100,000. FBG was murdered in the Gold Coast area of Chicago in August 2020. Five O Block members were later arrested and found guilty of this murder.[6]
