Kyle Martin[citation needed], better known online as KrimsonRogue (formerly known as The Book Was Better)[2], is an American[citation needed] YouTuber who makes videos about books.

Personal life[]

Kyle has a brother.[3] He has two cats named Ash and Leia,[4][5] and two dogs named Tuck and Konani.[6][7] One of his favourite bands is Pendulum.[8] He has a BA in English from Ohio Wesleyan University.[9] Kyle began writing by writing fanfiction.[10] He is six feet tall.[11] He can walk and read at the same time.[12]

YouTube[]

Kyle got the idea for his channel from channels such as The Nostalgia Critic and Linkara-AtopTheFourthWall. He began reviewing movies in order to make his videos more interesting.[13] KrimsonRogue films sitting in a “Book Throne,” which consists of over 200 books.[14] They are mostly stand-alone books that didn’t fit next to anything else.[15] At the beginning of 2019, he had around 20,000 subscribers. In December 2019, Kyle had 110,000 subscribers.[16]

Tab system[]

Kyle marks issues in books with sticky tabs. Each tab color marks a different issue. Blue is for terrible character moments, pink is for stupid lines, green is for bad plot or universe development, orange is for adaptation notes between the book and a movie, and yellow is for anything else.[17] Stephanie Meyer's Midnight Sun had around 200 tabs.[18] Norman Boutin's Empress Theresa had over 1,300 tabs.[19] The tabs are purchased from Target.[20]

Micro God[]

Kyle’s book, Micro God, was self-published on January 4, 2012.[21] It is a novella about a man who has full control of reality in a small radius around himself.[22] A trailer was uploaded on May 16, 2012.[23]
