Kurtis was born in the borough of North York, Toronto, but grew up in the satellite city of Hamilton. He attended Humber College's comedic arts program. His parents are divorced, and he mentions having older sisters.[6] His mother's name is Kelly and his stepfather's name is Lawrence (RIP).

Before Kurtis became a full time YouTuber, he worked as a golf caddy, a Macdonald's employee, and a process server. However, he says that being a Youtuber has been the most enjoyable of all.

Kurtis worked as a Starbucks partner during his time as a content creator on Vine.

Kurtis worked for Inkbox, a company that manufactures semi-permanent tattoos, before quitting to pursue a career as a full-time Youtuber and comedian. He has reunited with the company on several occasions, either through Inkbox's sponsorship of his videos[7] or through partnering with Inkbox to create his own tattoo collection.[8]

Kurtis enjoys getting tattoos.[9] He received his first tattoo, of an orca whale, alongside his sister. He has matching tattoos with his wife Jenna Allard-they both have hearts with 'ILYSB' (I Love You So Bad) and they have chosen surprise tattoos for one another.[10][1]

In October 2022, Kurtis married his long-time partner Jenna Allard. The wedding took place in Italy.[11] In October 2023, they had another wedding with their family and friends in Jenna's hometown Algoma, Canada.[12]
