Kyedae Alicia Shymko (born: December 1, 2001 (2001-12-01)), simply known as Kyedae is a Japanese-Canadian^{[citation needed]} Twitch streamer and YouTuber known for playing VALORANT.

Personal Life

Kyedae was born in Canada. Her mother is Japanese and her father is Ukrainian-Canadian, which makes her biracial. However, she spent her childhood in Japan, and Japanese is her first language. According to a Twitch command, she used to live in Sendai, Japan. She has a sister named Sakura, and owns two dogs named Kuro and Mochi. She is allergic to cats, but has expressed a desire to get a hairless one.

Kyedae is currently in a relationship and currently lives with fellow Valorant eSports player TenZ, and they became engaged on August 16, 2022. Kyedae lived in Japan for a short while before moving to Los Angeles, in the United States with TenZ. She has also taken vacations to South Korea and the Philippines.

Cancer diagnosis

On March 2, 2023, Kyedae was diagnosed with cancer, specifically Acute Myeloid Leukemia (cancer on the blood and bone marrow). She said on her tweet that she will start doing chemotherapy soon and does not know how will her body will react to the treatment. She has also said an early apology if her stream schedule is not consistent due for the treatment. Since this announcement, she has received many support from many content creators in the Offline TV and Friends group, as well as other content creators. She later returned on the 6th, explaining that she got diagnosed about 2 in a half weeks ago. Alongside, saying that she waited to tell her family and TenZ until after he was done with the VCT São Paulo tournament so he could focus on the said event.

However, a few days after Kyedae announced her diagnosis, this drew some minor controversy, prominently due to most people bullying her by asking if she is faking it and sending hate messages to her. She later discussing it on her most recent stream, stating about her stream 3 days when she came back from streaming.

Content

She uploads clips and highlights of her Twitch streams on her YouTube channel. Occasionally she uploads vlogs, which often feature her boyfriend. Her livestreams on Twitch mainly consist of gaming streams of VALORANT.^{[citation needed]}

On April 13, 2021, Kyedae was signed into eSports organization 100 Thieves, becoming their first ever international creator outside of the United States to join the organization. September 24, 2022, she was sponsored by Crunchyroll., and on November 24, 2022, she was sponsored by Microsoft. According to her Twitch channel description, she works with Chipotle.

• Her username is a nod to her nationality, as "Kyedae" (カエデ, or alternatively, 楓) means "maple leaf" in Japanese, and the Canadian flag features a maple leaf between two red stripes.^{[citation needed]}
