Symere Bysil Woods (born: July 31, 1995 (1995-07-31) [age 29]), better known professionally as Lil Uzi Vert, is an American musician, rapper and songwriter from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Early life[]

Symere Woods was born on July 31, 1995, in the Francisville neighborhood of North Philadelphia. They grew up listening to Mike Jones, Ying Yang Twins, Wiz Khalifa and Meek Mill. Woods also listened to Marilyn Manson, Paramore, SMASH MOUTH, My Chemical Romance, The Rocket Summer, Simian, and the All-American Rejects when they were 13 years old.

Channel[]

Uzi created their channel on February 16, 2014 and uploaded their first video on November 5, 2014, showing a music video to "Uzi". Their most viewed video is the music video to "XO Tour Llif3", with 516 million views as of July 2023.

Trivia[]

  • Woods used to perform under the name "Sealab Vertical" on the group Steaktown with William Aston and another friend. This would soon be changed to "Lil Uzi Vert" after being inspired by someone mentioning that Woods "raps fast, like a machine gun" or a "lil Uzi". Vert coming from the word "vertical", meaning "straight to the top".[1]
  • In July 2022, Woods announced that they use they/them pronouns. It would later be confirmed by their spokesmen.
    • In addition to that, in 2023, Woods has identified themselves as "gender-nonconforming".[2]
  • "XO Tour Llif3" is Woods' first song to be certified RIAA Diamond selling over 11 million copies, making it the best emo rap selling song of all-time. It is known to be regarded as Woods' signature song.
  • In February 2021, Woods had a 10-carat pink diamond implanted in their forehead, which was originally planned in 2017. The diamond would soon be removed in June. which has since left a scar in the middle of his forehead
    • The Internet posted memes about Woods' pink diamond comparing to the character, Vision, most referable to his death from the film Avengers: Infinity War.
  • On May 13, 2023 Woods posted an image of him wearing a I Love Gecs shirt, merch of the hyperpop duo 100 gecs to his Instagram story[3]
