Lasse Plambeck Vestergaard (born: May 10, 1995), previously known as LasseMedHatten (sometimes abbreviated as LMH), is a Danish YouTuber and streamer who primarily posts videos about gaming.
Prior to 2016, his channel was called LasseMedHatten (In English; Lassse with the hat), referring to the hat he always used to wear.
Early years (2010-2014, LasseMedHatten Style)[]
Lasse's first video, posted on January 11, 2011 and titled ''Pangya EU account'' consisted of him showing his old account on the game Pangya.
Throughout 2011, he mainly posted videos playing the horror video game Amnesia. In 2012 his videos diversified as he also started playing games such as Left 4 Dead, Crash Bandicoot, Slenderman and Spyro, and sometimes posted Vlogs.
His most notable video in 2012 (and most viewed video on his channel to date) was a parody of PSY's ''Gangnam Style'' titled ''LasseMedHatten Style'' posted to YouTube on September 7th, 2012 (Although it has been stated to been previously released on July 15th, possibly on another platform). The parody- and music video revolves around Lasse and his connection to his hat. Jeppe Thomsen and Mathias Bloch were featured in the music video as background dancers.[1] The parody became viral, gaining over 200,000 views by November 6th of the same year.[2] The video has over 2 million views as of March, 2022.
In August 2012, he gained 2000 subscribers.[3]
Throughout 2012 and 2013 he began doing challenges and give-aways,[4] such as the Cinnamon challenge and eating ''Denmarks strongest pepper''.[5] [6] He would also occasionally Live-stream on Twitch.
His second channel, now currently called Lasse Vestergaard 2, was created on November 7, 2013.
He reached 17k followers in October 2013.[7] In 2013/14 he started to regularly collaborate with fellow YouTube duo Robin & Samrita (from the channels RobinSamse & RobinKaja), playing games such as Crash Bandicoot and Garrys Mod with them, and has since then consistently collaborated with them.[8] Another YouTuber he sometimes collaborated with was Son-Michael.
His series of him playing the horror video game-series Five Nights At Freddy's also garnered popularity.
Shaving his head (2015)[]
On January 24th, 2015, Lasse posted a YouTube video of a live-stream where he had played the first-person shooter game Team Fortress 2. During the livestream, viewers could donate 100 kr. (Danish Crowns) if they missed the previous opportunity to buy a LasseMedHatten-themed poster, and Lasse did not expect that one of the viewers would donate one thousand kr., while another viewer would donate two thousand five hundred of the danish currency. A donation goal of six thousand kr. was also set, and Lasse would have to shave his head if the goal was reached. Lasse did not expect the amount of money donated, and he ended up shaving his hair and donating it to the charity Locks of Love.[9]
After shaving his head, he stopped wearing his hat.
Throughout 2015, he played popular web-browser games such as Agar.io and Akinator, and continued his Five Nights at Freddys gameplay.[10][11]
Lasse Vestergaard (2016-Present)[]
On January 26th, 2016, he posted a video talking about possibly changing his channel name to Lasse Vestergaard, and ended up doing so.
On March 7th, 2016, he posted a video addressing (hate) comments on his videos about the Danish YouTuber and younger sister of also-YouTuber Morten Münster, Naja Münster, having more subscribers than him, despite her being younger and having started her channel later than him. A sequel to the video was posted on April 8th of the same year.
in early 2017, Lasse, along with fellow YouTubers Robin, Samrita and Albert Dyrlund, were the Danish dubs of several background characters in the Lego Batman Movie, with Albert voicing the major character Robin.[12][13]
In late 2017, Lasse was a commentator on DR Ultra, commentating on the Nordic Minecraft competition Ragnarok.[14] The competition included YouTubers such as JudexGaming, TrierGaming and BrianFromDenmark. He was also in 2020 included in multiple episodes of the show Ultra Gaming from DR Ultra.[15]
In September 2017 and again in 2018, Lasse, Robin, and Samrita performed a show called ''RobinSamse VS Lasse Vestergaard''.[16][17]
