Bethan Mary Leadley (born December 15, 1995) is a singer and vlogger, she is popular for making videos on YouTube under the username musicalbethan. Her YouTube channel currently has over 240,000 subscribers.
History
Leadley created her YouTube channel in April 2007, originally with the purpose of uploading covers and original music. She has since branched out from doing song covers. Currently, her content ranges from topical vlogs (she has addressed such topics as insecurity and sexting) to makeup and cooking tutorials. The most popular video on her channel of today is 'The day I met my boyfriend.' with over 900,000 views with then-boyfriend Luke Cutforth.
Music
On October 31, 2010, Leadley announced a second channel, acousticbethan, in order to have a separate channel to host the majority of her covers. Oct 22nd, 2011 released her first official album 'Unrequited Love' on iTunes under LukeIsNotSexy's record label, Lukas Records. The songs, Lullaby and Sorrow of the Dead were featured as singles. In April 2014, Bethan was featured on London Live, talking about her music.
In early 2014 Bethan released Day Affair. The single was accompanied by a video. The music video was released in partnership with UK charity, Time To Change in order to create awareness of issues surrounding mental health.
Her EP, New Kinda New was released under LaBrec records in November 2014. The EP featured four tracks. Preceding the release, Leadley released a lyric video for the song Left the Broken featuring many members of the YouTube community. The lead single from the EP, Safe Lined, was released on November 2, 2014 and has currently amassed over 70,000 views.In January 2015, Bethan and her band embarked on her first headline tour across the UK accompanied by Dodie Clark and UK Band, Box of Light.
In September 2015, Leadley announced her second EP, Inside Her, which is to be released later this year.
Personal life
Leadley currently lives with her father. She has an older brother, Daniel, who appears on her channel from time-to-time along with her mum and dad. Bethan is good friends with fellow YouTubers Dodie Clark, Daniel J. Layton and Emma Blackery.
Bethan was previously in a relationship with fellow YouTuber, Luke Cutforth, (LukeIsNotSexy) for about a year and a half. In April 2014, Bethan announced that she had been dating comedian and creator, Dean Dobbs, since September 2012. They confirmed their break-up in September 2015.
