Lionel Andrés Messi[1] (born: June 24, 1987 ),[1] known as Leo Messi or simply Messi, is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a striker or midfielder. Historical player of the Fútbol Club Barcelona, to which he was linked for twenty years. From 2021 to 2023, he was a member of the Paris Saint-Germain squad of Ligue 1 in France. As of 2023, he plays for the Inter Miami CF. He is also international with the Argentina team, which he is captain of.

On June 24, 1987 in Rosario, Argentina, one of the best soccer players in history was born in Rosario, Santa Fe.[2] He began playing soccer at the age of 5, and in 1995 he joined the lower divisions of the Newell's Old Boys club from Rosario.
At the age of 11, he was diagnosed with growth hormone deficiency, the treatment of which was very expensive. The young footballer's ability and talent caught the attention of Carles Rexach, FC Barcelona's technical director. The Spanish club then offered to pay for his medical treatment and Messi moved to Spain with his family.
At the age of 13, he began playing in the lower divisions of Barcelona along with other future sports figures such as Gerard Piqué and Cesc Fàbregas. He made his debut in the team's first division in October 2004 at the age of 17.
Among the many titles he has won, the Spanish League championships of 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019 stand out; and those of the Champions League of 2006, 2009, 2011 and 2015. Meanwhile, playing for the Argentine soccer team, of whom he is currently a figure and captain, he won a World Youth Championship in 2005 and the Gold Medal in the Games of Beijing 2008.
