Lui Takane (鷹嶺ルイ) (born 11 June [age 1000+, stopped counting after 61]) is a Japanese VTuber affiliated with hololive. She debuted as a part of its 6th Japanese generation, Secret Society HoloX, along with Koyori Hakui, La+ Darknesss, Chloe Sakamata and Iroha Kazama.

Content

Her debut was livestreamed on November 26, 2021. This was followed by a chatting stream, and her first song cover, of EYE - Kanaria. She has played Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Keep Talking and Nobdy Explodes, Garctic Phone, Doki Doki Literature Club, Dark Deception, Heaven Burns Red, Papers, please, Twelve Minutes, Pokemon Legends, Teke teke, slither.io, Elden Ring, Powerwash Simulator, Judge Eyes and Outlast.

Her first song cover was of ラブカ？- 柊キライ. She has also covered EYE - Kanaria, フクロウさん - すりぃ, プロローグ - Uru and MIRA - Kanaria.

She also hosts chatting streams, some entirely in English so she can get a better grasp of the language. Sometimes she hosts karaoke streams, and regularly uploads shorts, in a series titled "Almost Daily Shorts".

Collaborations

Lui's first collaboration with someone who wasn't her genmate was with Calliope Mori, where the two hosted a stream dedicated to learning English. Lui has called Calk The two would host a Japanese learning stream a month later, and they have also played Outlast. Lui herself has taught Japanese to Gura, Mumei, Fauna and Zeta.

Lui has played Visage with Fubuki and KeyWe with Watame. Botan has also schooled Lui in Call of Duty mobile.

Later all of HoloX would play Among Us with Suisei, Matsuri, Miko and Noel. Suisei, alongside Towa and Botan, was featured in Lui's stream of Rubber Bandits. She has played ARK with Koyori and Iroha, Minecraft with Mumei, Baelz and her genmates, Surgeon Simulator with Chloe and Koyori, and APEX Legends with Iofi and Amelia. Iroha nicknames her "Lui-nee".

Lui played Garctic Phone with Laplus, Noel, Marine, Okayu, Korone and Towa. She has also played Gartic Phone with all of the Holobirds. Her stream of Hacktag featured Reine.

Regarding songs, she and Okayu covered Identity - Kanaria. The two held a chatting stream afterwards.

Lui has named Marine Houshou as her oshi. She says that she empathized with the pirate, as she herself used to be employed at a "black company". She would also frequently watch Calliope.

Design

Lui's illustrator is Kakage. Kakage also illustrated a "bewitching aura drifting snow witch" VTuber for Hololive, but said character model was never used. Nevertheless, Hololive still credited him for his work.

The glasses on her model are possibly a reference to Kamina of Tengan Toppen Guren Lagann.

Lui is the fifth Hololive production member to be bird themed, being themed after a hawk.

• The second is Reine Pavolia, who is themed after a peacock.
• The third is Kiara Takanashi, who is themed after a phoenix.
• The fourth is Mumei Nanashi, who is themed after an owl.

Lui is 161cm tall.

Lui's birthday (6/11), height, and age ("stopped coutning after 61") are all related to the number 61. This is a deliberate pun on how in Japanese, 61 can be read as either "Rui" or "Lui".

As holoX's point of contact and the one in charge of external affairs, she is the de facto leader of the group, handling matters that the founder cannot.

While she may seem aloof and standoffish at first glance, she is a compassionate person who cares a lot for her subordinates.

Unfortunately, she is also rather prone to screwing up in crucial moments.

Personal life

Lui has an older brother. When she was a child, first crush was her older brother. Another time, during a field trip, she was asked if she had any pet animals. She replied that she had one, and when asked what animal, she replied with "I have an elder brother". The whole bus fell silent after this.

Her mother is aware that she is a VTuber.

Trivia

• Lui speaks Japanese and Thai.
  • At the start of her VTuber career, Lui said that she is learning English, although she is bad at it. However she is proficient enough to hold English-only chatting streams and can perform tongue-twisters.
• Lui likes spicy food, pickles and red wine, and hates pointy objects, especially when they are pointed at her.
• Lui's favourite anime include Spy x Family, Psycho-Pass, Nagi-asu, Death Note, Code Geass, Tokyo Ghoul, Ouran Highschool Host Club and Code Geass.
• Lui's favourite games include Final Fantasy 13 and 14, Ace Attoreny, Danganronpa, The Idolmaster franchise, dating sims (Tokimeki Memorial 2 in particular) and FPS games in general.
• Lui is terrible at horror games. Notable examples include:
  • Having a panic attack at the suicide scenes in Doki Doki Literature Club.
  • Only lasting 4 minutes in her Outlast stream (she was challenged to end the game when she screamed).
    • In the subsequent stream, Lui jumped and knocked water on her keyboard after being scared again, causing the stream to be cut short.
