Sven Magnus Øen Carlsen (born: November 30, 1990 (1990-11-30) [age 34]), better known simply as Magnus Carlsen, is a Norwegian[1] chess grandmaster and the former chess world champion. He is in a current five-time streak with the world championships. He also held a three-time streak with the world rapid chess championships and a five-time streak with the world blitz chess championships. Magnus is the highest rated chess player in history with a peak elo rating of 2882 and holds the world record for the longest undefeated winning streak in elite-level classical chess.

Magnus created his channel in 2014 to post vlogs and high-level chess games. As a chess prodigy, Carlsen has been playing chess at a high level since he was 5 years old and gained the title of grandmaster at the age of 13.

In 2013, Magnus co-founded the chess company Play Magnus Group. The company's first product was a chess app called Play Magnus where the user plays a chess AI that used Magnus's games in its learning algorithm. The company would release chess tutoring software for mobile devices. In 2022, Chess.com finalized an offer of acquisition for the Play Magnus Group.

In 2022, Magnus walked out of a game against Hans Niemann and accused him of cheating. The scandal went viral and emails got leaked that proved that Niemann and other grandmasters cheated on multiple Chess.com tournaments for money. This leak to Niemann and the other cheaters getting banned.

Alongside chess, Magnus also plays in poker tournaments.
