Overview[]
Maizen Sisters (Japanese: まいぜんシスターズ, romaji: Maizen Shizutāsu) (simply Maizen) (pronounced as [MA-ee-zen]) is a multi-media brand based in Japan, that provides entertainment, mainly by means of YouTube videos. Maizen is owned by Laser FZCO, which is based on the Middle East. They are formerly owned by UUUM Co., Ltd., a Japanese label company owning dozens of YouTubers. The first Japanese channel was created in May 21 2015. They consist of two iconic characters, JJ (Zenichi in Japanese localization) and Mikey, who plays mostly Minecraft and Roblox. Their gameplay videos are posted mostly daily, to which can get 1M views in less than a week.
They originally rose in Japan in 2015 as a gaming channel, which was made by 2 people (according to research, who were childhood friends) who had an idea of posting their gameplay to YouTube[1]. Slowly, it gained lots of views and likes. In December 27 2020, an English channel was made, particularly for overseas viewers. They were simply English dubs of original Japanese gameplay.
On December 15, they were introduced in a video on YouTube Japan's official channel as YouTubers who have surpassed 1 trillion Minecraft views. Among the 34 YouTubers who appeared in the video, only the Maizen Sisters are Japanese YouTubers.
They collaborated with Tokyo Tower in May 15 2022 to make merchandise and goods. In August 2022, they collaborated with Shimamura Group to make merch and goods. In April 28 2023, they collaborated again with Tokyo Tower along with Sapporo TV Tower, Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER and Fukuoka Tower for merch and goods.
Aside from YouTube gameplay, they also have an official manga/comic, titled "まいぜんシスターズの冒険" (Adventures of the Maizen Sisters)[2].
The Maizen Sisters are a group of characters that appear in Maizen's videos. The group consists of:
- Zenichi (ぜんいち) (also known as JJ the rabbit)
- Mikey the turtle (マイッキー)
- Carrie the kitten (キャリー)
- Banana Kid (バナナくん)
