―MamaMax's YouTube Description |
Max Stryker[1][2] (born Max Ronald Harris[3] on January 23, 1996 ), better known online as MamaMax (and MamaMad), is an American YouTuber, commentator, and animator known for his video essays, anime reviews, deep dives on creepy video games, and online "predator hunting". His content contains themes of dark comedy, mental health, mystery, and exposé.
History and Content[]
Life Sucks[]
MamaMax created his channel on May 23, 2016. He started a video series known as Life Sucks during the summer of 2016. In this series, Max discusses topics that are not necessarily enjoyable in life and daily inconveniences, including relatable struggles he faced as a teenager. In 2019, He made a series called Saving Game which contained four documentaries about 4 specific games. Later, he started a new sort of video genre, in which he would investigate strange or unknown video games. These gained a lot of views, and are some of his most popular videos.
He once shelved his Life Sucks series and hentai content reviews (claiming that they don't represent him anymore), but consented them to be re-uploaded by other creators, before making it public again sometime later.
MamaMad[]
From late 2013 to 2019, Max ran a second YouTube channel named MamaMad with fellow collaborator Chisana[4] (nicknamed "Slave"), where the pair would react to episodes of ecchi and bizarre anime such as Kiss X Sis and Citrus, in a comedic, satirical and politically incorrect fashion. Unlike videos on his main MamaMax channel that tend to be more serious and analytical, MamaMad content focused on unscripted humor.
Similar side content included live reactions on Twitch with Max and Chi, and a variety of other commentary-styled videos, such as a parody of "Kickstarter Crap" by iDubbbz. In this video, Max commented on a Kickstarter campaign for an Australian-animated series coincidentally titled Life Sucks, which he jokingly claimed was his "primordial series".[5] After Max’s disengagement from the channel, it was under the management of Chi for a short period of time before all videos on the channel were deleted/set to private, Some of the original MamaMad anime reactions have been reuploaded by fans.[6]
Exposing child predators and video takedowns[]
In 2020, Max donned a new persona and direction for his channel, becoming the "predator hunter" with the intention to expose some unsafe websites intended for kids, and adult content. The videos revolves around the process of baiting potential pedophiles by assuming the identity of a young girl ( with the help of voice modulators and actors) on the predatory sites, before reporting his findings to the FBI or other law enforcement. It is unknown/debatable whether such grassroot vigilante movement is legally allowed to conduct such entrapment process as the regulation differs by state.
When YouTube unexpectedly took one of his videos down for violating "bullying and harassment" policy, it sparked controversy among the community, dawning the hashtag #AnswerUsPedoTube. After some of Max’s associates like SomeOrdinaryGamers and Nexpo, among others, promptly made videos calling out YouTube for it,[7][8] the video was eventually re-uploaded.[9]
Personal life[]
Max was born on January 23, 1996, and grew up near Dallas, Texas with several siblings and his father, who allegedly abused Max. One of his younger brother was born with a disability.
Max claims to have been heavily bullied in school, and was at one point employed for 9 months in a movie theater.
Max claims that all four of his past girlfriends were abusive to him. Max joined the military in October 2014 for 6 months, doing basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Fort Huachuca, Arizona before he was discharged for unresolved depression that led to an attempted suicide.
Controversies[]
History of Slander[]
MagnetarYT[]
During 2022, MagnetarYT made an video exposing Max over abusing his EX-Girlfriends using the evidence that Max's EX-Girlfriends sent to him.[10] Max later responded with a video in July 29, 2022 titled "Believe All Abusers" where he debunks the allegations that his EX-Girlfriends shared, halfway though the video, He accuses Magnetar for being a pedophile by showing a DM Max had with a victim of Magnetar saying that he shared a pic of him playing himself to the victim. These allegations were furthermore perpetuated in an episode of the Some Ordinary Podcast, where Youtuber's SomeOrdinaryGamers, Nux Taku, and Leon Lush believed Max's allegations in face-value.[11] Max's fans to go after Magnetar and caused his friends to cut ties with him, and almost made Magnetar get into the point where he was considering committing suicide.
In 2024, it was revealed that the allegation that Max made towards Magnetar was entirely made up in a leaked discord call due to the fact that the DMs Max shared didn't add up and Max never had the image of Magnetar chatting to the victim which Magnetar has since called Max out about it. Mutahar would also apologize to Magnetar soon after.
NightDocs[]
At some point between 2020 to 2021, Max would live rent free for months with someone named NightDocs, a YouTuber who supported Max's "Pick A Side YouTube" campaign and was considered to be a close friend with him, along with Nexpo and SomeOrdinaryGamers. Unbeknownst to him, Max would later spread false accusations behind his back to his close friends, alleging that NightDocs was a neglectful parent, a creep to women, and a predator, resulting in many of his friends cutting ties with him behind the scenes.
The incident was not known publicly until Nicholas DeOrio uploaded a video titled "This Video Will Make You Hate Mamamax" on February 3, 2024. DeOrio would interview NightDocs in the video, where he said that he felt betrayed over Max's actions and claimed that Max never confronted him over the allegations. NightDocs would later post on X the same day in regard to his online absence.[12]
Following the videos release, MagnetarYT confirmed that he will be taking legal action against Mamamax,[13] opening a GoGetFunding campaign soon after.[14] However, it was later cancelled as Magnetar was unable to obtain the funds that the campaign needed.
Penguinz0 Bait And Switch[]
On November 25, 2023, MamaMax uploaded an video with a hashtag #WeAreReal titled "This is the greatest cancellation of all time" which featured Penguinz0 on the thumbnail as a desparate clickbait tactic (to mislead unsuspecting users as if he was getting exposed). Max later confessed that it was also meant to spite Charlie (aka Penguinz0) because he allegedly did not respond to him when he tried to reach out while he was diagnosed with Covid-19 earlier on.
The video caused a lot of backlash from his fans because the video coerced other YouTubers into a polarizing false dichotomy of focusing their content on real crimes, (e.g. human trafficking) instead of talking about Internet drama. Consequently, Max changed the video's thumbnail to show SSSniperWolf instead and renamed it to "Reacting to the Reactions of SSSniperWolf's Actions" and apologized to Charlie.
After his third installment of such series, the fans soon realized that his contents seemed to lack substantial evidence to indict someone through the proper means. His action to casually disclose the full name of the alleged perpetrators (as with the case of Lerix and Camden) was borderline violating YouTube’s policy and blurring the bounds between a civic duty of a citizen and the law enforcement authority. His vigilantism was called into question by other YouTubers (including his friend, SomeOrdinaryGamers (aka Mutahar), who later joined Nicholas DeOrio to confront Max in a Discord call).[15]
