Maroon 5 is an American musical band currently based in Los Angeles, California, United States. The band consists of the lead singer, Adam Levine, guitarists Jesse Carmichael and James Valentine, bassist Michael "Mickey" Madden, keyboardist PJ Morton, drummer Matthew Flynn, and Sam Farrar, who is a multi-instrumentalist. Ryan Dusick was the original drummer for Maroon 5 until his departure on 2006.

History[]

Kara's Flowers[]

Formerly known as Kara's Flowers, original members Levine, Carmichael, Madden, and Ryan Dusick were a high school band in 1994. The first album they created was We Like Digging? After this, and a few more album releases, Kara's Flowers reemerged as Maroon 5 in 2001.

Growth of Popularity and Ryan's Departure[]

After the name change, Maroon 5 wanted to follow a different path of their music direction. To help with this, Maroon 5 added their new lead guitarist, James Valentine. Not long after this, they also signed with Octone Records, which helped them release their pilot album, Songs About Jane. This was a year after the original name change. And with help from their single, "Harder to Breath", Maroon 5 peaked at #6 on the Billboard 200 chart. They later went platinum in 2004 because of their rapidly growing success. Along with this success, the group won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2005. But a year after this, in 2006, Dusick was forced to leave the band, because of not being able to play due to sever upper body injuries, and was replaced by Matt Flynn.

Number One Singles[]

The debut of Maroon 5's second album, It Won't Be Soon Before Long, was what really set them off as number one. This album reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Their next single, Moves Like Jagger, did the same in 2011. In 2012 Carmichael left the group and was replaced by PJ Morton. By not two years later, Carmichael rejoined the band, and Morton stayed as well. A year before Carmichael rejoined, however, their album Overexposed reached number one as well.

Recent State[]

In 2014, right after the rejoining of Carmichael, the band signed with Interscope Records, and released their fifth album, V. With the release of V, the band hit another #1 album. In 2016, the band brought in Samuel Farrar, who used to collaborated with the band, and was part of Phantom Planet. They released their next album, Red Pill Blues, a year later, which contained their now most popular song, Sugar. With they constantly growing fame and renowness, Maroon 5 is now one of the worlds most popular bands, and are still playing today.
