Mary Saionji (西園寺メアリ) is a Japanese VTuber and member of music group HoneyStrap alongside Mico Sekishiro, Patra Suou, Charlotte Shimamura and Eli Sougetsu (formerly).
Content[]
Her channel consists of chatting, cooking, ASMRs, music and games. After her debut stream, Mary hosted chatting streams before streaming her first game[1]. Sometimes she would collaborate with her fellow Honey Strap members[2][3][4], and even her second gaming stream was a collaboration with Eli Sougetsu[5]. All five of them collaborated together[6], however sadly this only happened twice[7] as Eli had to leave HoneyStrap due to personal reasons. She has played Minecraft, Kirby, Little Nightmares, Super Mario Party, Wii Sports Resort, The Forest, Dragon Quest, Cuphead, Pikmin, Miitopia, Raft, Thief Simulator and Super Mario Maker 2. Her favorite types if games are ones with gorillas in them, such as Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey and Donkey Kong[8].
On the 15th of August she uploaded her first ASMR video and she would become famous for them[9], due to how soft her voice was. She is also known for her cooking videos[10] and in her chatting streams, she revealed that she is attached to umeshu, a Japanese liquor, partially due to having bad experiences with other types of beer.
She hosts radio shows Snack Mary where she drinks with guests from outside the group, and co-hosts another short weekly radio show with Shimamura Charlotte called Late night with Mary and Char.
She has actually admitted she dislikes singing but has practiced dancing.
Collaborations[]
Due to being from HoneyStrap, most of the VTubers that Mary collaborates are from agencies under the same belt of 774 inc, and she often appears in their chatting streams. However there are exceptions, such as her appearing in Marine Houshou's chatting streams. Other VTubers she has featured inclide Ichika and Hinako from AniMare[11] and Ayame from Hololive[12].
Trivia[]
- Suou Patra calls her "big sister" and she is known as the "mom friend" of the group. Some fans even call her "mommy".
- She volunteered to help Kashiko Mari during her 3rd live event, MARism Vol.3 at WOMB in Shibuya, Tokyo
- Mary wants to get married, but has had bad luck with men, having dated mostly deadbeats (this has caused her fellow HoneyStrap members to become very concerned about her).
- In an episode of Snack Mary, she got the nickname "Mary Deluxe" as a reference to Matsuko Deluxe.
- While being drunk, she tends to say "yoppappaa" a lot, which became a meme between her fandom, and she made a song based on it with Suou[13]
