Notable third parties supporters include the BBC, Bad Robot Productions, Studio Ghibli (via GKIDS), The Criterion Collection, Comedy Central, and Sesame Workshop, among many others.
The Max channel serves to advertise upcoming content, promote the brand, and share videos related to HBO Max shows and movies, original or licensed.
Max launched on May 27, 2020, and has since gained over a million subscribers as of 2023.[1]
Controversy[]
On August 17, 2022, HBO Max announced that they would be removing multiple shows from their line-up.[2] This caused outrage over social media, as users were angered that they could no longer watch the shows on the service, and many believed that it was a bad idea to remove the shows from the platform. Another pressure point was the treatment of the staff and crew of the shows being removed, as their work was being disrespected by HBO Max.
This fear and outrage was further cemented by the Cartoon Network Twitter and YouTube accounts removing all mentions of "Infinity Train" and "Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart" from their accounts, which caused many fans to believe that the latter had been cancelled, as it had been on hiatus since 2020.[3][4]
