Sossie (born February 16, 2002 (2002-02-16)), better known online as Mayro (formerly MayroSMM), is a Welsh YouTuber known for her videos about Super Mario games, most notably ROM hacks and challenges.

History

Mayro's current channel wasn't always her main one, as she has another channel called marionose1 which she used prior to gaining popularity on Mayro. She used marionose1 primarily to post remixes of music from Mario games. However, the channel has gone mostly inactive after remastering the OST from the DS game Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, before the official 3DS remake released.

Her remixes were highly praised for and especially for her remastering of the Final Boss theme, - The Grand Finale - which amassed over 500k views and was used as the outro music on her main channel for a while. She has also stated that Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story is her favourite game of all time.

Prior to coming out as a trans woman, she used the pronouns they/them and had once stated her gender was "yes" due to a fear of coming out. Mayro came out as aromantic on Valentine's Day in a post on Twitter.

Content

Mayro occasionally swears in her videos and livestreams, sometimes makes adult jokes, and has stated at multiple occasions that her content is not suitable for children. She has played other games like Minecraft, A Hat in Time, Untitled Goose Game, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and more, although she has shifted away from variety content and mainly to Mario content since then.

Video Series

Coinless

In this series, Mayro plays Mario games unintended by attempting to collect as few coins as possible. She has attempted the coinless challenge in Super Mario 3D Land, Super Mario 3D World, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and some NSMBWii ROM hacks.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii 2: The Next Levels

Mayro did a series playing every level from 1-1 to 9-8 of a mod claiming to be a one-person project but was actually a compilation of stolen levels. She has often had interactions with disrespectful Toads in the hack and lots of her signature quotes such as "Suck major suck time" and "Blue pipe awareness" can often been heard throughout the series, in addition to critiquing people's bad tiling within the stolen levels.

Mario Maker Until Someone Spells _ Correctly

In 2023, Mayro played "Mario Maker [2] until someone spells "Bowser" correctly". The video gained enough attention and positivity that she would make sequels, playing collections of similar levels with poor spelling. She searched for the correct version of "Castle", "Any Enemy", "Any Character", and even, "Any [English] Word".

Google Translated

In the Google Translate series, Mayro plays a modified version of a game with it's text run through Google Translate to mess it up. Her most notable google translated series was Mario Party 9 Google Translated.

In addition to making some of her own Google Translated mods, she will also play mods from other people. In the earlier videos, Mayro Google Translated game websites although this format has been retired. She also Google Translates video game movie trailers and video game song lyrics. "I Google Translated The New Mario Movie Trailer 1,000 Times", is her most viewed Google Translated video and most viewed video on her channel.

AI videos

Similar to her Google Translated videos, the concept behind AI videos is to mess up a game's text to make it almost unrecognizable from the original. Mayro has made several videos of this style including her Paper Mario: Sticker Star playthrough and AI Deltarune playthrough, the latter of which was created by YouTuber CiblesGD. Similarly, she has also done streams relating to AI Would You Rather, AI joke reactions, and AI AITA?.

Conditional Challenges

Mayro's Conditional Challenge videos were a series of videos where the concept of a video was not to perform a certain task such as touching a color or getting hit by an obstacle. Among the games she has played, Super Mario 3D World was Mayro's most successful performance-wise racking in over three million views. Most of her Conditional Challenge videos were inspired by CreepyProduce's own conditional challenges.

Nightmare Mario Wii

Mayro made the WORST New Super Mario Bros. Wii custom levels where the entire point was for her to explore her creativity and make the most horrific and malicious levels possible. Being one of, if not her most popular series, she has currently made 10 videos on this mod where she has completely destroyed every level in New Super Mario Bros. Wii from 1-1 to 5-Castle and is currently working on World 6. There is no guarantee that any more levels will be released though.

Mayro often pokes fun at the YouTube Shorts meta in her own shorts by spreading obvious misinformation in hilarious means, creating bad video loops, & providing bad video captions among other things.

The channel was announced in a now privated update video where Mayro outlined her plans for the channel at the time. Trivia

• As revealed on Special Mayro, she had a dog named Scooter. Mayro confirmed that Scooter has sadly passed away since.
• The content Mayro's always been most proud of are her challenge videos on various of her favourite games, showing the complex ways she learnt to finish them with very restrictive conditions, such as "Super Mario Galaxy 2 without transformations".
• Previously, Mayro stated that she was disappointed most of her popularity came from simply being associated with DGR. She has since described it as "not a problem nowadays", due to no longer being in contact with him.
• She gave an interview where she revealed that her name is Sossie. Some parts of the interview might be outdated, as this was when she still identified as a male.
• Mayro's first hate comment was from someone called Vanessa Taylor. It stated "Mario smm you are a asshole" despite her name being MayroSMM at the time. It became a meme on the channel and in a video of her playing "New Super Mario Bros. Wii 2: The Next Levels" one of the levels had no background, and Mayro asked her editor to add one. The editor chose Vanessa's comment.
