Leland Tyler Wayne (born: September 16, 1993 (1993-09-16) [age 31]), better known professionally as Metro Boomin, is an American record producer known for his production style and music.

Life[]

Wayne was born on September 16, 1993, in St. Louis, Missouri. At age 13, his mother bought him a laptop and he got a copy of the music production software FruityLoops. In high school, he would produce around five beats a day. Initially, he wanted to rap, and started making beats so that he could have music to rap over. However, he eventually became more focused toward hip hop production.

His mother, Leslie Joanne Wayne, was killed in a murder-suicide by his stepfather on June 5, 2022.

Career[]

During high school, his mother would often drive him for over eight hours from St. Louis to Atlanta to collaborate with artists he met online. One of the first artists who he worked was Bricksquad Monopoly rapper Tay Don which led him to collaborate with Bricksquad label artists such as OJ da Juiceman, Gucci Mane, and eventually his frequent collaborator Future. He would go on to collaborate with many artists such as Nicki Minaj, Ludacris, Juicy J, Yo Gotti, 21 Savage, Wiz Khalifa, Chief Keef, The Weeknd, YG, Jeezy, Meek Mill, Travis Scott, Ace Hood, Young Scooter, Young Thug, Lil Durk, Rich Homie Quan, Trinidad James, Drake, Lana Del Rey, Lil Uzi Vert, Migos, DJ Khaled, Schoolboy Q, Post Malone, NAV, Swae Lee, Gunna, Lil Wayne, Waka Flocka Flame, and Kanye West. He and Young Thug became a duo called "Metro Thuggin" and released music under the moniker.

He went on to release multiple albums, such as 19 & Boomin, Perfect Timing with Nav, Without Warning with Offset and 21 Savage, Not All Heroes Wear Capes, Savage Mode and Savage Mode II with 21 Savage, and Heroes & Villains.

Channel[]

Wayne created his channel on January 4, 2009, and he uploaded his first video on September 22, 2009. He uploaded vlogs when he started his channel, often featuring artists like Young Thug in them. He currently uploads his music and audio onto his channel.
