Milo Stewart (born October 6, 1998 (1998-10-06) [age 27])[citation needed] is an American[citation needed] YouTuber known for their videos on gender and social justice, while also making vlogs about their time in school and reviewing books.

Milo is non-binary and goes by they/them pronouns.[citation needed]

Content[]

Milo's first videos were uploaded in 2014, where they vlogged about clothing tips for transmasculine people[1], nonbinary self acceptance[2], gender identity[3] and their asexaulity[4][5][6]. Their first video was titled "Not your Public Spectacle | Milo Stewart" where they detailed their experienced with a transphobe[7].

They also would address anti-trans laws[8], representation in media[9], genital preferences[10] and the controversy around the Black Lives Matter movement and if it was really anti LGBT[11]. Their videos were relatively unknown until they uploaded "all cis people are transphobic (and you're probably racist too)" which catapulted them into the eye of mainstream YouTube due to spawning many reaction/commentary videos.[citation needed]

Their other content included reacting to people[12] on topics like androgyny and prison[13], dating as a trans/nonbinary person[14][15], vlogging about grad school[16], meeting transgender right activsts such as Laverne Cox[17] and recommending books to their followers about social justice[18].

In 2021, their upload schedule slowed due to them being in school, though they uploaded a vlog occasionally. Most of their videos were about misgendering and how it hurt people.[19][20]

Controversial videos[]

all cis people are transphobic (and you're probably racist too)[]

On April 21, 2016, Milo uploaded the video "all cis people are transphobic (and you're probably racist too)" (it was later renamed to "Subconscious Biases + What to do About Them | Milo Stewart") where they talked about internalized biases and how they affect minorities, and making claims such as "all white people being racist (including themself), all cis people were transphobic, and that all members of the majority are biased against the members of a minority". The video was mass disliked (3,500 Likes VS 162,000 Dislikes) and several YouTubers reacted to it, criticing Milo for the absurdity of their arguements. The backlash was severe to the point that Milo unlisted it.

They would later address this controversy years later in the video "I Survived anti-SJW Youtube"[21] where they detailed all the harassment they had to deal with, how it made them feel, and how to move past it all. This was also mentioned again in their video about growth and change.[22]

#BlackLivesMatter isn’t Anti-LGBT+ | Milo Stewart[]

When Milo discussed the 2016 Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting by ISIS recruit Omar Mateen, they claimed it "was a racial thing as much as it was a homophobic thing", due to the fact that most of the victims were Latino. This is despite the shooter admitting that he was motivated by seeing two men kiss in front of his son and having a history of insulting LGBT people because they were against his religion (Islam).[23]

Personal life[]

Milo was assigned female at birth, and started doubting their gender when they were in eighth grade, and initially used he/they pronouns while being on testosterone.[24]

Earlier in their life, Milo identified as nonbinary, trans and asexual.[25]

Years later Milo no longer identified as asexual and created a seperate sex toy review YouTube channel called Milo After Dark.[26]

After high school, they enrolled at a Chicago-based Columbia College, and majored in television. According to a classmate who went to school with them, they were part of their school's LGBT group.[27]

Trivia[]

  • Milo is a prison abolitionist.[28]
