Mini Katana created their channel on May 12, 2021,[4] and uploaded their first video on the same day. It was a showcase of Kirito's Elucidator from Sword Art Online.[5] They started posting videos of their products afterward.[6][7][8][9][10] In 2022, they reached 1 million subscribers.[11] On March 1, 2022, Mini Katana uploaded their first long-form video, which was a tutorial video on how to clean a katana.[12] Their most popular video was uploaded on November 7, 2023. It has over 1 billion views and is one of the most viewed short-form videos on YouTube.[13] That same month, the channel reached five million subscribers.[14] By the end of 2024, the channel had 17 million subscribers.[15]
