Miranda Taylor Cosgrove (born: May 14, 1993 (1993-05-14) [age 32]), better known professionally as Miranda Cosgrove, is an American actress, voice actress, and former YouTuber and musician. She is widely known for her supporting role as Megan Parker in the Nickelodeon television series Drake & Josh, and later starring as Carly Shay in the hit series iCarly, as well as its 2021 reboot.

Personal life[]

Miranda Taylor Cosgrove was born on May 14, 1993, in Los Angeles, California, as the only child to a father and mother who owned a dry-cleaning business. Cosgrove is of English, French, Irish, and Mexican descent,[1] and attended regular schools until she was homeschooled from sixth grade onwards, wanting to become a veterinarian before she became an actress. She attended the University of Southern California before graudating from there in 2012.

Cosgrove created her YouTube channel mirandacosgrove on October 6, 2006, where she uploaded short videos which included her at a sleepover in a hotel, and giving shoutouts to her fans. She also released her songs in her channel.

Nickelodeon[]

Cosgrove's first appearance in television was in the 2003 film School of Rock, portraying Summer Hathaway, before earning a role as Megan Parker in Nickelodeon's television comedy series Drake & Josh, which ran from 2004 to 2007. Prior to her main role as Carly Shay in iCarly from 2007 to 2012, Cosgrove was featured in multiple other Nickelodeon shows, such as Zoey 101 and Unfabulous. Cosgrove reprised her main role as Carly Shay for the 2021 revival of iCarly, which has been released on Paramount+.

Music[]

Cosgrove has also performed songs by and for Nickelodeon, such as her version of "Christmas Wrapping" for Drake & Josh, and her singles "Leave It All To Me" (2007) featuring Drake Bell, which was the opening theme song of iCarly, and "Stay My Baby" (2008). Her debut album Sparks Fly was released on April 27, 2010, containing popular songs such as "About You Now" (2009), "Kissin U" (2010), and "Dancing Crazy" (2010). Other promotional songs include "Raining Sunshine" for the 2009 film Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, "All Kinds Of Wrong" (2012), and "Million Dollars" (2012).

Cosgrove's songs were uploaded on her YouTube account, along with her EPs (extended plays) "About You Now" (2009) and "High Maintenance" (2011).

Other[]

Cosgrove has also been known for her voice acting roles in films from Disney and Pixar, including Margo in the Despicable Me film series and Sarah in Lilo & Stitch: The Series in 2005. She also made guest appearances in Pharrell Williams' "Happy" (2013), Marshmello and Bastille's "Happier" (2018), and as a guest in The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
